Since 2014, Melon Day has been celebrated in Turkmenistan on August 10. Currently, 1,6 species of melons are grown worldwide. Every year, on the second Sunday of August, all residents of Turkestan, especially market vendors and farmers, celebrate Turkmenistan Melon Day. Sweet and juicy melons have been grown in Turkmenistan for thousands of years. Archaeologists have proved this by finding several melon seeds in the ancient city of Gyaur-Kala. Turkmen melons are still considered sweeter and tastier than the melons of many countries. More than 400 species of melons are considered to be Turkmen species. A big holiday will be celebrated in Akshabad on the Day of Melon in Turkmenistan. On this holiday you have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of dishes made from melons.
