Does the baby need a pacifier?

SHARE WITH FRIENDS:

The sucking reflex occurs in the first stage of a baby’s life, when the baby is still in the mother’s womb. After the baby is six months old, the sucking instinct gradually begins to fade. However, most babies feel the need to suckle after breastfeeding anyway. By sucking, the child feels a sense of satisfaction and peace of mind. If the child is accustomed to constantly sucking on the pacifier, it will be difficult to throw it away. He begins to suck his fingers, his tongue, his lips, the collar of his cheek, the edge of his cloak. All this leads to a change in the shape of the jaw, "bite" and impaired chewing, malformation of speech, adversely affecting the psyche. According to dentists, sucking on a pacifier can cause a child’s teeth to be malformed.
Some mothers give a pacifier to keep them from breathing through their mouths. This is wrong. Do not use a pacifier even when traveling with a child, otherwise the child will become open-mouthed. Make sure there are no lumps on the nose. Constant breathing through the mouth indicates the presence of any defect or disease in the airways. In such cases, take the child to a throat, ear and nose doctor immediately. If the child opens his mouth while sleeping, close it. If the baby's mouth is constantly busy with sucking, it will negatively affect his mental and spiritual development. Because the mouth of a small child serves as a "device" for the study of objects.
In most children at birth, the lower jaw is much smaller than the upper jaw. But by the sixth month, they are equal in size. This is helped by the fact that the child sucks hard: when the child sucks, the lower jaw comes forward. Breastfeeding makes this easier. If the mother has a lot of milk, it is better to milk the baby a little before breastfeeding. Then the baby will start sucking the breast harder. When artificially feeding a baby, the pacifier should be stiffer, shorter, with tiny holes in the tip.

If you can give the baby a pacifier:

  • If the baby is resting in the womb.
  • If the belly is thick but the limbs are tingling and asking for the tongue. In such a child, the sucking reflex is still unsatisfactory. You can give her a pacifier for a short time to calm her down. Remove the pacifier as the baby sleeps.
Prohibited:
  • Using an old “tried and tested” method, such as rubbing pepper on the tip of a pacifier. Put yourself in the child's shoes, would you have endured it yourself ?!
  • Cut off the tip a little: If the baby swallows a piece of the pacifier, the risk you gain can be much more costly to you.
  • "Take the pacifier out of your mouth," he said.
  • Intimidation of a child.
  • Touching the baby's chin. It can upset him. Or, holding on to his stubbornness, he deliberately refuses to drop the sucker on purpose.
  • Cheating on a child. If your sweetheart notices that you are cheating, she will never believe you again.
Psychological advice. To make the baby forget the pacifier faster:
  • If you are giving your baby extra food (6-7 months), use a cup instead of a pacifier.
  • Do not try to offer the baby a pacifier in a quiet, calm time. Give the child colorful toys to play with.
  • If the child is over 2 years old, grind his favorite pacifier with scissors and explain to the toddler that “everything will wear out and break down as the child grows up”. Your sweetheart still doesn’t understand that it is possible to buy a new pacifier. So you are likely to forget the pacifier soon.
