Eid and its activities

SHARE WITH FRIENDS:

The press service of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan shared information about the holiday of Eid and its activities. We bring it to your attention in its entirety.

The holiday we call Eid means "iyd" in Arabic, which means "return", "return". This holiday is so named because it comes again and again. Some scholars have said that this holiday is called Eid because it comes to people every year with joy and happiness, despite their hardships and worries.

There are three great holidays in our sacred religion:
  1. Iyd ul-fitr. This feast is celebrated every year on the first day of the month of Shawwal;
  2. Iyd ul-azho. This holiday is celebrated every year on the tenth day of the month of Dhu'l-Hijjah;
  3. Weekly holiday. Every Friday is a holiday for Muslims.
It is narrated in a hadith about the two days of Eid:
It is narrated on the authority of Anas that: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to Madinah. They (the people of Madinah) had two days to rest. He said, 'What a day these two are.' The people of Madinah said, "We used to rest in ignorance during these two days." The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, 'Allaah has changed you for better days than these two, Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr.'they said. " (Narrated by Imam Abu Dawud).
These two Eid holidays follow the two great pillars of Islam. One of them is celebrated after the end of Ramadan, and the other after the Hajj, that is, after the pilgrims have stayed at Arafat.
Eid al-Fitr is a day when all Muslims express joy and happiness. These days, believers give sadaqa al-fitr, offer sacrifices, say takbeer, and perform the Eid prayers in gratitude for the innumerable blessings they have bestowed on God. The days of Eid are days of prayer and thanksgiving, days of joy and gladness. Accordingly, these days are the great days of the good of this world and the hereafter.
The scholars have said that it is obligatory for those who are obliged to perform the Friday prayer to perform the Eid prayer.
The Eid prayers are performed after the sun has risen one or two spears.
When performing the Eid prayer, one should take a ghusl and come out clean. This is reported in a hadith:
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas that "The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to perform ghusl on the day of Eid al-Fitr and on the day of Eid al-Adha." (Reported by Imam Ibn Majah).
It is also fragrant with sweet musk and perfume after washing and cleaning when going to the Eid prayer.
It is mustahab to wear new clothes on the day of Eid. Because this work is to express the blessings of Allah Almighty to His servant, to show his joy. Those who can’t afford it wear the best clean-neat clothes.
According to the Hanafi Madhhab, it is obligatory to give sadaqa al-fitr at dawn on the day of Eid al-Fitr. But before that, it is permissible to give in the days before Ramadan. Thanks to Sadaqa al-Fitr, the homes of the poor will also be happy. There is evidence for this in the following hadith:
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar that "The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded that the sadaqa al-fitr should be performed before people go out to pray." (Narrated by Imam Muslim).
It is sunnah to eat a dessert before going to the mosque during Eid al-Fitr. It is reported in a hadith:
It is narrated on the authority of Anas that he said:The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)On the eve of Ramadan) without eating a few dates (to the prayer hall) did not come out ” (Narrated by Imam Bukhari).
Unlike Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, it is sunnah not to eat until the Eid prayer has been performed. It is narrated in a hadith:
It is narrated on the authority of Allah that: “Until the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ate on the day of Fitr (to the Fitr prayerThey did not go out and did not eat until they prayed on the day of sacrifice. (Narrated by Imam al-Tirmidhi).
It is narrated that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) offered a sacrifice after returning from prayer on the day of Eid al-Adha and ate its meat first.
If there is no excuse, it is also sunnah to walk to the Eid prayer. It is narrated on the authority of Abu Rafa 'that he said:
“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to go on foot for two Eid prayers. They prayed without adhan and iqamah. Then they would go home the other way. " (Narrated by Imam Ibn Majah).
Accordingly, if there is no illness, or an excuse such as distance or snow, it is sunnah to go to the mosque on foot.
From the time he leaves home to perform the Eid prayer until he reaches the place of prayer.La ilaha illallah”And“Allahu akbarIt is also sunnah to say these things. With these takbirs and analyzes, it is to rejoice in the coming of Eid and to declare that this day is a different day from other days. However, it is not sunnat for everyone to gather to say the takbir, and for one of them to say the takbir aloud. Because it is not narrated to say such a takbir.
The Eid prayer is a two-rak'at prayer. When it is time for the Eid prayer, two rak'ahs of prayer without the adhan and takbeer are performed, following the imam. It is narrated in a hadith:
Ibn 'Abbas and Jabir ibn' Abdullah Ansari, may Allah be pleased with them: "The call to prayer is not said on the day of Fitr or on the day of sacrifice." They said, "(Imam) Narrated by Bukhari).
Because the adhan and takbir are sunnah for the obligatory prayers.
It is obligatory for the Imam to recite the Eid prayer and add Surat al-A'la to the first rak'ah and Surat al-Ghashiya to the second rak'ah. It is also narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited Surahs Qaf and Qamar during the Eid prayers.
According to the Hanafi Madhhab, the Eid prayers are performed in the following order:
  • It is intended in the heart to perform the Eid prayer in obedience to the Imam, and this intention is also pronounced;
  • Then the takbir is recited after the imam. After the takbeer, the hands are tied around the navel and the prayer of "sana" is recited;
  • Then the takbir is recited three times following the imam. In each takbir, the hands are raised to the extent that the thumbs touch the softness of the ears and then lowered to the side. After the third takbir, the hands are tied and placed under the navel;
  • Then the imam's recitation is listened to. After the recitation, the imam performs the ruku 'and sajda after the takbir;
  • In the second rak'ah, the imam recites before the takbeer. After the recitation, the takbir is recited three times together with the imam, and in each takbir the hands are raised to the extent that the thumb touches the earlobe and then lowered to the side;
  • In reciting the fourth takbir, one bows while following the imam without raising his hands, and prostrates following the imam;
  • After the prostrations, the Eid prayer ends with the attahiyat, salawat and du'a being recited while sitting on the last pillar, followed by the salutation after the imam.
If a person arrives a rak'ah late for the Eid prayer, the imam recites it after the salaam, without saying the salaam, and then says three takbirs. goes to the bow.
The Eid prayer is performed before the sermon. Many hadiths have been narrated about this. For example, it is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah ibn' Abbas that:
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas"I performed the Eid prayer with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and Abu Bakr, 'Umar and' Uthmaan, all of whom performed the Eid prayer before the sermon." (Narrated by Imam Bukhari).
The imam turns his back towards the qibla and addresses the congregation. The evidence for this is the following narration:
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri that “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to go to prayer on the days of Fitr and Qurban. The first thing he would start with was praying. Then they would turn around and face the people. People were sitting in rows. They used to preach to them and command them. If they wanted to separate people who would be sent somewhere, they would separate them, or if they wanted to order something, they would order them. Then they would go back. " (Narrated by Imam Bukhari).
It is also one of the etiquettes of the day of Eid to see each other and celebrate Eid after the Eid prayer. Although there is no specific prayer to be said on the day of Eid, it is good to say, "May Allah accept it from us and from you."
On the day of Eid, it is also sunnah to return from a place of worship other than the one on which one went. It is narrated on the authority of Abu Rafa 'that he said:
“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to go on foot for two Eid prayers. They prayed without adhan and iqamah. Then they would go home the other way. "(Narrated by Ibn Majah).
By going to the parks and visiting relatives on the holiday of Eid, the range of common joys of the day expands, and if gifts are given to them, the bonds of mutual love will be strengthened and the joys will increase. It is advisable for a Muslim to try to share the joy with his relatives, especially the needy, as much as possible during the days of Eid.
Visiting scholars and seekers of knowledge is also one of the virtues of Eid. Of course, it is necessary to follow their time.
In general, the wisdom of the holiday of Eid is many, such as the elimination of animosity and resentment among members of society, as well as the further strengthening of the bonds of affection between them.
