June 21 is the day when the first taxis started running in Moscow

  From June 1925, 21, taxis began to run on the streets of Moscow. Taxis were very popular with the townspeople because they were much cheaper and more convenient than the original carriage. Initially, taxis were Reno, Ford and Fiat foreign cars. Later, when the country began to produce cars, taxi fleets switched to GAZ-A and M-1. Taxi parks developed in Russia in the 1920s and 1930s. By 1935 there were about 500 in the capital, and in 1939 more than 3000. By 1971, more than 14200 taxis were in service in Moscow. They made a huge profit and justified their money within a year. In 1980, there were more than 20 taxis in Moscow.
