May 15 is the day Johann Kepler discovered the third law of planetary motion in his solar system

On May 1618, 15, the famous German astronomer Johann Kepler (1571-1630) determined that the ratio of the squares of the period of rotation of the planets around the Sun is equal to the ratio of the cubes of their average distance from the Sun. Applying Kepler's third law to celestial bodies moving in an elliptical orbit to the planets and their satellites, as well as to the twin stars moving in elliptical orbits around the center of mass, some quantities belonging to these celestial bodies can be determined. In particular, this law made it possible to calculate the masses of the planets relative to the mass of the Sun, as well as to calculate their total masses based on observations to determine the period of rotation of one of the twin stars relative to the other and to measure their annual parallax. Kepler compiled the motion tables of the planets based on his own laws.
