When does admission to U.S. universities begin?

We are often asked many questions about how to conduct the admission process to the United States. So let’s discuss here when to apply to American universities.

When it comes to the U.S. entry process, prospective students have a few misconceptions. Here are some examples -

The process is completed quickly

Students can apply at any time

High School / Final Year exams must be completed before application.

The application deadline is always the same for every university in the United States

The admission calendar does not end.

In the context of these misconceptions, let’s be clear that the process of entering the U.S. takes time, months, and years, especially for international students. The admission calendar and the actual calendar are interestingly different from each other. By May 1 of each year, the long process ends. Knowing the timeline and knowing the admission schedule is critical to your success.

Now, let’s discuss when the full admission process is.

All U.S. universities are offering access to the core program, which is an fall semester. Keep in mind that everything is discussed here in terms of applying for the fall semester.

The term fall usually begins in September, which is the month when the weather changes from summer to fall. Now let’s work back from September. To start studying in September, you need to apply a few months in advance. The deadline for applications is November of last year. So, for example, if you want to attend the fall-2021 session, the application deadline is usually November 2020. It ended nine months before you started your session. The entire deadline for submission of documents does not expire early, but most fall in December and February, which is just a few months before you start studying.

This brings us to the question: “But I will still be in school / college there! How do I submit all information to the university, such as final exam scores? ”

The answer is very clear - most students apply to U.S. universities when they are in their final year of college or finishing 12th grade. This means that you will not have your final scores when universities review your application. For example, if you have a four-year academic degree, your application will include three or three semesters of academic information. Similarly, if your course lasts 2 or 3 years, your application will contain 1 to 1 year and a half, and if it is 3 years, two to two and a half years of academic information.
