ABOUT IELTS TEST

IELTS (visual International EArabic Langle Test System) is a test for those who want to study, immigrate or do an internship in an English-speaking country. The test helps non-native English speakers to determine how well they know the language.

Applicants for immigration to Australia and New Zealand, and those wishing to study at a university in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, or Ireland must take the IELTS test. The number of universities around the world that recognize the final grade of the IELTS exam is steadily increasing.

Scores for each section of the test are measured on a scale of 1 to 9. It is then averaged over 4 sections. Highest score 9.

9 - Experienced user - expert
8 - Very good user
7 - Good user
6 - Competent user
5 - average user
4 - Restricted user
3 - Extremely limited user
2 - partial user
1 - Not a user

To study at a university, you must have an average IELTS score of 6.0. If the score is 5.0 or 5.5, you will need to take a maximum of 6.0 weeks of English language courses at the same university to obtain a score of 30 (some universities may declare the average score to be 6.5). Thus, the pass mark for the IELTS Academic module is 5.0.

TAFE, colleges and training courses require an average score of 5.5; If you get a score of 4.5 or 5.0, you will need to take a maximum of 5.5 weeks of English language courses at the same university to get a score of 30. This means that the IELTS General Training module pass score for obtaining a student visa is 4.5.
