The Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system starts displaying Wi-Fi speed and signal strength before the user connects directly to the wireless network. An update containing the new feature will be sent out this week.
Android will start showing the Wi-Fi speed before connecting to the public network. This information will not be available for password-protected private access points.
The signal level is indicated by the Wi-Fi icon, which means that the more painted, the stronger the signal. The network is divided into 4 categories according to speed:
-
"Slow" - allows you to send calls and text messages;
-
"Normal" - you will be able to open sites and listen to music;
-
"Fast" and "Very fast" - allows you to watch videos online.
To activate the connection speed on the screen, go to the following settings:
-
“Network and Internet” -> “Wi-Fi” -> “Wi-Fi Settings” -> “Advanced Settings” -> “Network Rating Source” -> “No”.
