Anvar qori Tursunov (1958-2018)

Anvar qori Tursunov was born on November 1958, 21 in Hamza district of Tashkent city. In 1981 he graduated from the philological faculty of Tashkent State University, in 2001 from the Tashkent Islamic Institute.

Anvar Qori Tursunov began his career in 1981-1984 as an editor of the magazine "Yoshlik". From 1984 to 1987 he worked as a researcher at the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, and from 1987 to 1989 he worked as a researcher at the Abdulla Qahhor House Museum in Tashkent. 1989-1994 - Senior Editor of Oriental Literature, Center for Translation and Literary Relations under the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan. In 1994-1999 he was the imam-khatib of the mosque "Yangiabad", Yashnabad district, Tashkent. From 1999 he worked as the chief imam-khatib of Tashkent.

In 1989-1992, Anvar Qori Tursunov edited the first translation of the Qur'an (translated by Sheikh Alouddin Mansur).
