Muhammad Yusuf - poet, deputy of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Muhammad Yusuf entered literature in the late seventies and immediately spoke of him as a serious and remarkable talent who was able to create unique and memorable images, who at a glance used the realities of ordinary life in a profound and unique way in the rhythm of art forms.

The heyday of Muhammad Yusuf, one of the most talented representatives of Uzbek poetry, dates back to the end of the XNUMXth century - the beginning of the XNUMXst century, the period of Uzbekistan's new independence. His short but brilliant life can be explained by Pushkin's words about Byron: "He involuntarily confessed in his poems with the delight of poetry."

In the early years of his career, he became known to readers for his poem about the Uzbek doppi, which later became a visiting card of the poet for many years. In it, Muhammad Yusuf wonders why Uzbeks do not wear skullcaps. After all, there are different types of these hats. Or has wearing it become a burden? The conclusion is not gratifying: it is not that there is no suitable skull - it is that there is no one left who deserves to wear it.

Muhammad Yusuf was born in 1954 in the village of Qovunchi, Marhamat district, Andijan region, in a peasant family.

After graduating from high school in 1971, he entered the Republican Institute of Russian Language and Literature, after which he joined the Uzbek Society of Readers as an editor. Then Muhammad Yusuf, correspondent of the newspaper "Tashkent Oqshomi", editor-in-chief of the literature and art named after Gafur Ghulam, correspondent of the newspaper "O'zbekiston ovozi", deputy editor-in-chief of the National News Agency of Uzbekistan, " Tafakkur ”magazine is the head of the department.

In 1996, the poet became a member of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan. Initially, he worked as a literary consultant, from 1997 to the end of his life as Deputy Chairman of the Writers' Union of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The poet's contribution to the development of literature was appreciated. By the decree of the first President Islam Karimov, Muhammad Yusuf was awarded the Order of Friendship and the People's Poet of Uzbekistan.

His first poem was published in 1976 in the newspaper "Uzbekistan's literature and art". Nine years later, in 1985, the poet's first collection of poems "Familiar Poplars" was published. In this collection, the poet shares his feelings lyrically and freely, talking about the events of his life. Interestingly, he was received very warmly by both the world of criticism and the poet's brothers. Muhammad Yusuf was lucky in life: at the very beginning of his creative path, fate confronted him with Erkin Vahidov, who felt Muhammad Yusuf’s remarkable talent and helped him develop it. Later he became close with the poet Abdulla Aripov. These two famous contemporary poets correctly directed the talent of Muhammad Yusuf, and in their works - themes, emblems, the tone of the poem can be seen the interaction and mutual enrichment.

Like all great poets, Muhammad Yusuf was engaged in translation activities. He did this work expressively and approached his translations with great responsibility. Although he himself studied translation through the works of great poets, his translations are a unique example of creativity. The following words of V. Zhukovsky can be applied to them: "The translator of prose is a slave, the translator of poetry is a rival."

For Muhammad Yusuf, every word, every event in his life was poetry. It was as if he had lived a very light and bright life, like a bird fluttering its wings in the skies. But the poet's life was cut short very early. The flight of the creative phase was interrupted… The poet died on July 2001, 29.

A poet as wide-ranging as Muhammad Yusuf, with deep feelings and thoughts, comforts the poet's death with only one thing - his poems, which he inherited and undoubtedly had a significant impact on the development of Uzbek poetry.
