Shuhrat (Gulom Alimov), a well-known representative of Uzbek literature, poet, prose writer and playwright, was born on April 1918, 19 in the Hazrati Imam (Hastimom) mahalla of Tashkent.
After studying in old and new schools, he studied at the Transport College. It was here that Yunus Latif began to write poetry. Then he studied at the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute (1936–1940). He began his career in 1935 writing poetry. His epic "Dream and Heart" and the fairy tale "Mehrol" were published in 1940. Conscripted that year, Shuhrat served as an officer in World War II battles.
After the war, he worked as a literary worker in the republic's newspapers and magazines. During these years his collections of poetry "Breath of Life" (1947) and "Brothers" (1950) were published.
The terrible winds of repression did not pass Shukhrat by. He was convicted of anti-Soviet propaganda in the early 50s and spent five years in prison in Siberia and northern Kazakhstan. After the publication of the novel "Seekers of Paradise" (1968), some people tried to accuse him of nationalism. More anxiety comes on top of anxiety. All this is detrimental to his health.
In the last years of his life, he created works on military themes in various genres, such as "Child", "Immortal Flowers", "Consequences".
His works “Our Street”, “Balogat” (1957–1958), and “Kuduk” (1973), which proudly depict the morality, diligence, fighting courage of the younger generation, and the fact that they became worthy heirs to the ancestors who fought for freedom and peace. The author's lyrical books "Your love" (1931), "Burning in love" (1964), poetic series such as "Caucasian notebook", "Girl's smile", "Great love", in his ballads Motherland and life, love and affection, dignity and precious, labor and diligence are glorified.
The need to describe life events in a comprehensive way encourages the author to enter the novel genre. Based on his vast life experience on the fronts of World War II, he wrote the novel "Shinelli years" (1947-1957), which tells about the military life, heroism, patriotism, endurance and hope for the future of our people. In the novel "Golden Stainless" (1967) the honorable profession of the enlightened teacher is glorified, and in the novel "Seekers of Paradise" (1968) the tragedy of patriotism finds its artistic expression. The collection of poems and quatrains "Lyrics" (1973), "Five Days of the Groom" and "Double Bells", which contain the poet's philosophical views on life, made a significant contribution to the development of Uzbek literature.
Many works of the People's Writer of Uzbekistan Shuhrat have been translated into foreign languages.
After the death of fame, he was awarded the Order "El-Yurt Hurmati", "Buyuk Hizmatlari Uchun".
