How accurate is it to cradle a baby?

SHARE WITH FRIENDS:

The history of the cradle goes back to ancient times. The first information about him can be found in Mahmud Kashgari's "Devoni lug'atit-turk". Sumac and tuvak, which keep the child's bottom dry, are unique to the peoples of Central Asia. We can assume that such originality in our cradles is the invention of medieval masters. There is no definite information about this.
Advantages
First of all, let's list the advantages of the cradle, which, despite its long history, has not experienced any gradual improvement:
1) The baby is not bothered by various insects as the top is covered with surp or gauze while sleeping.
2) The child does not get used to the hand. Because if the baby is carried a lot, it will require the same attention later.
3) Looks at the colorful decorations of the crib and learns to distinguish colors.
4) The baby in the crib sleeps peacefully at night because the tag is always dry.
5) It is convenient to put a child to sleep using a crib. The rocking cradle also has the property of vibrating with its own inertia for a few minutes.
6) The spine of a child lying in a pool is flat.
7) Saves the cost of diapers and time spent washing the soles.
8) The baby does not turn upside down while lying down.
9) He does not cut or injure his face with his hand, nor does he put his finger in his mouth and suck.
10) The indoor climate of the crib maintains a constant temperature and prevents the baby from overheating.
What do doctors say?
Doctors have not come to a definite conclusion about the cradle. They consider the cradle a controversial topic. For example, Nizom Irmatov, a candidate of medical sciences, Tojiboy Yakubov, a senior surgeon, and Uktam Kochkarov, a doctor, praised the cradle in their articles (Shifo-info newspaper). According to Professor Mamazoir Khojamberdiev, the constant and rapid vibration of the cradle can damage the child's brain, lead to a fracture of the skull, which has not yet hardened, and bleeding into the brain. He tries to prove his point with the results of Scottish pediatricians who conducted research in the Fergana Valley 10 years ago. The study found that skull deformities or injuries were observed in approximately 100 out of every 25 infants. According to Rishat Osmanov, a professor at the Andijan Medical Institute, lying in the same position for 10-15 hours is dangerous for a child's health. Tightly tying the baby from the shoulders, abdomen, and legs also disrupts blood circulation, causing the bones to grow crooked. Osmanov also notes that the child's inability to move in the cradle can lead to poor muscle development and metabolic disorders. Kozim Kobilov, a pediatric orthopedist and traumatologist with XNUMX years of experience, disagrees. According to him, lying in the cradle does not lead to crooked growth of bones. Because the curved growth of bones is mainly associated with rickets. “The cradle in the crib adapts to the shape of the baby and helps the spine grow properly. The ‘O’ and ‘X’ shaped deformations in the legs have nothing to do with the cradle. This is because such cases of crooked growth can occur after the child starts to walk, ”said orthopedist Kobilov.
Damage to the baby's skull when the cradle vibrates occurs only when the head hits the wooden parts hard. In normal cradle vibrations, this condition is less likely to occur. The fact that the rate in the study of Scottish pediatricians is also very low (0,00025 percent) has attracted the attention of doctors who support the crib. Injured babies, on the other hand, may have been damaged due to improper cradle vibration or other causes. In addition, the compensatory capacity of the incomplete and soft skulls of infants is high. They rarely have cranial deformities. Therefore, there is not enough evidence to cite the cradle as the cause of concussions and skull injuries. The cradle is less likely to be damaged, especially for a healthy newborn. Only children born with pelvic joint dysplasia are not recommended to be placed in the crib.
According to some urologists, some residual urine remains in the bladder when the baby is wet in the crib or in a tightly tied diaper. As a result, stones may accumulate in the urinary tract. When the legs are bent, the urine does not remain in the bladder. But so far this view has not been fully confirmed either. After all, the condition of stone accumulation in the bladder of infants is very rare.
If the norm is not followed…
From the opinions of doctors, it can be concluded that there are no downsides to the cradle when used properly. The following are some of the disadvantages that can result from improper use of a crib:
- It is harmful for a child to lie in the crib for a long time. As a result of lying in the crib all day, the light exposure to the baby's skin is reduced, especially in winter and autumn. This prevents the synthesis of vitamin D in the skin and causes rickets. As a result of this disease, the child's calcium metabolism is disrupted, the bones soften, and the neck area of the head becomes flat. Bone growth is observed.
- Breastfeeding on one side of the baby in the cradle often results in primary neck curvature.
- Sumac can cause contact dermatitis on the external genitalia if hygienic requirements are not followed.
CradleThe main part of consists of the foundation part, bridge, arch, dome and legs. Cradles are mostly made of worm-proof mulberry wood, sometimes apricot, walnut, and willow, which is often softer with a slope and sumac. The old masters did not use nails. Currently, only nails are used to fasten the bends. In the past, natural dyes were also used in the decorations. So it didn't smell.
Govraposh - The blanket, which covers the cradle, will be adapted for three different seasons: velvet (winter), silk or surp (autumn, spring) and gauze (summer).
Kovuz - A special blanket made of millet, rice, oats or wheat husks. Acts as a unique pampers.
Sumac - A wooden tube worn on the baby's penis. Girls and boys will be different. Ensures that urine falls into a special container when recording.
Tuvak - The toilet bowl, which is collected when the baby is written, is made of pure natural fabric, such as crib sheets, gloves, shoes, chit, silk.
Cradles or diapers?
In a sense, it would not be a mistake to say that the first natural diapers were invented by our ancestors. This is because the cradle hood is air permeable, absorbs moisture quickly and dries quickly.
It is known that there are some negative opinions about diapers. The feet of a child who has soaked his bottom in diapers will begin to feel damp after a certain period of time.
Of course, the use of cribs or pampers is a matter for each family to decide. According to doctors, proper use is important in both cases. The high cost of diapers is another aspect that can be mentioned in this comparison.
Necessary tips on the cradle
The cradle should be used in moderation and correctly. To do this, follow these steps:
- The cradle should be placed on a blanket, not on a hard surface.
- It is better for a child to lie in the crib only when he is asleep. When he is awake, he should gently massage and play with his back to catch him.
- The cradle should be placed in a sunny place or the baby should be taken to the sun at certain times. Because a child absorbs most of vitamin D through sunlight. Especially useful in the spring and summer are ultraviolet rays, which fall between 8-10 o'clock in the afternoon, and in autumn and winter between 9-11 o'clock in the afternoon.
- It is better not to breastfeed the baby in the crib. If you have to do so, you should breastfeed on both sides alternately.
- It is better to shake the cradle gently. Fast or hard vibration is dangerous.
- It is recommended to cradle the baby until he is 1 year old or he can walk independently. After all, by this time the child will be able to control his urine. If the child wants to sleep in the crib himself or is weak, this period can be slightly extended.
- The sumac should be soaked in oil to make it soft before use. It is necessary to clean it from time to time and pay attention to hygiene.
- It is strictly forbidden to cover the cradle with thick curtains made of artificial fabric.
- Do not place the cradle next to heating appliances. In dry weather, the ion content is broken down, causing discomfort to the child and causing him to cry a lot.
- From time to time it is necessary to open the crib curtains and ventilate the beds.
- It should be noted that the quilt blanket is made of cotton and thin. Because the baby's bed should not be too soft.
- However, putting a soft pillow on the head prevents the head from growing into a "scab".
- A circumcised baby should be placed in a crib without a bag. Because sumac can irritate a baby’s wound.
- Special care should be taken not to tie the feet and gloves too tightly.
What babies are not cradled?
Babies born with pelvic joint dysplasia (abnormal growth) should not be placed in the crib. The reason is that they recommend keeping their legs open without being attached. An orthopedic examination should be performed to determine if the child has such a congenital disease. Children with congenital heart defects sometimes have difficulty breathing. Therefore, a crib is not recommended for them either. Often overweight babies have a deformed skull at birth. As a result, the blood pressure inside the skull becomes high. Anxiety and whimsy are characteristic of children with this disease. If they are rocking in the cradle, the cradle should be shaken very gently.
