How to choose pure honey?
Although there are several types of honey now, it is difficult to distinguish from them a more beneficial type for the human body. Various methods have long been used to determine the quality of honey. For example, if honey flows continuously from a spoon or burns when caught in a fire, it is considered qualitative. There is an easier way to do this among the population: if a drop of honey is rubbed with a chemical pen before purchase, if the drop does not appear blue-purple, then it is real honey. It is no secret that in recent years there has been an increase in the number of sellers of "sweets" instead of honey, which do not differ from pure honey in terms of color and smell. But there are several ways to avoid such cases and to detect foreign matter in honey:
l Distilled or rainwater is poured into a glass bottle filled with honey. The honey melts quickly, and the mixtures separate on their own;
l honey is dissolved in water and a few drops of iodine are added. If it contains starch or flour, the solution turns blue;
l To determine if sugar syrup has been added to honey, dissolve a teaspoon of honey in half a glass of water and add a small amount of silver nitrate (lyapis) solution to form a white precipitate at the bottom of the glass.
To preserve the healing properties of pure honey, it should be stored not only in tin, iron, tin, copper containers, but also in colored and glass containers, as well as in porcelain, earthenware, which are tightly closed. It is also preferable to keep away from sunlight and heating devices.
