Imran ibn Husayn

SHARE WITH FRIENDS:

Imran ibn Husayn converted to Islam in the seventh year of the Hijrah. He became a close assistant to our Beloved Prophet. He took part in several battles and became the flag bearer of the Huzoa tribe on the day of the conquest of Mecca. They received knowledge in the house of the Prophet and became faqihs.
When Imran ibn Husayn became a Muslim, he devoted his life to serving good.

The conversion of Imran's father, Husayn, to Islam brought tears to the eyes of the Messenger of Allah. Before Hussein converted to Islam, the Quraysh came to him and said, "Muhammad's words are hard on us, he is insulting our gods." Then they went to the house of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and stopped at their door. Only Hussein entered. As soon as the Prophet saw him, he said, "Give the old man a place." Several Companions were here at that time. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Believe.' Then he said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have people and relatives. What can I tell them? ” he asked. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "O Allah, guide me to the right path and increase my knowledge." Hussein had converted to Islam before he got up. At that moment, Imran came to him and kissed his father's head and hands and feet. When the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw this, he wept. When the Companions asked him why he was crying, he said, "I cried because of what Imran did." When Husayn got up and left, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Follow him to his house."

Imran ibn Husayn was a man of infinite love, truthfulness, piety, and devotion to Allah, and Allah had given him the blessing of tawfiq and guidance. Still, he said, "I wish I were a grain of sand to be blown away by the winds." He was tormented by the sins he had committed before Islam.
One day, the Companions said to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, “O Messenger of Allah! This will continue until we leave your presence. But when we return to our family, to our children, we forget these things. What is the reason for this? ” they asked. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'By Allah, if you had been standing in my presence, the angels would have welcomed you. But for a while you will be religious, and for a while you will live with lust. ”
Upon hearing this hadith, Imran ibn Husayn was moved and decided to live without deviating from sincere prayer.

The Caliph 'Umar ibn Khattab sent Imran to guide the people of Basra and teach them the sciences. As soon as Imran ibn Husayn settled in Basra, the people of the city greeted him and received his blessing.
Hasan al-Basri and Ibn Sirin said, "No one came to Basra better than Imran ibn Husayn, one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah." The high opinion of these two scholars about the Companions is an indication of his level. Imran served as a judge in Basra with justice.

Imran was a pious Muslim, wearing expensive, beautiful clothes. He knew that asceticism was in the heart, not in abstaining from everything. Abu Raja said, “One day Imran came to us with a beautiful veil that we have never seen. It was possible to buy a few clothes for the money of the blanket. He used to respond to those who were surprised to see him wearing good clothes by saying, "If Allah bestows a blessing on a servant, He loves to see that blessing on his servant." Imran used to wear the most beautiful clothes for prayer. And when he was asked about it, he said, "Why should I not make it now, for I am with my Lord?"

When a great dispute arose between Ali and Mu'awiya, Imran ibn Husayn did not step aside, but called the Muslims to peace as loud as he could. He used to say, "It is better to raise a goat in the mountains until I die than to shoot a Muslim."

After thirty years of painful illness, Imran’s faith was perfected. He was impatient with the disease and never complained. Perhaps he was steadfast in prayer, whether he sat, stood, or lay down. When his brothers gave him words of encouragement, he would laugh at them and say, "The thing that pleases me the most is the one that is loved by God." Imran ibn Husayn, who set an example with unparalleled patience, died in Basra in the fifty-second year of the Hijrah. May Allah be pleased with him.
