May 21st in Japan "Temple Demonstration" Day On May 21st, the most famous and loudest public holiday in Tokyo - Sanzya or "Temple Festival" will be held. Like all Japanese festivals, the Sanzya Matsuri is characterized by its colorfulness, and about 2 people participate. Why is it called the "Temple Demonstration" because the audience is divided into groups and each carries a 220 kg miniature replica of a temple (miko in Japanese). Mikoshi are found in almost every Japanese temple and are brought out for all to see during the annual festival. The uniqueness of this holiday is that about a hundred mikos from different temples of Japan participate at the same time. In order not to get lost in the crowd, each group wears their local national costumes. The festival starts in Asakusa, Tokyo district at 8 in the morning and ends here at 8 in the evening. At the beginning of this process, representatives of the Sensoji Temple go to the sound of drums and music. Musicians play tunes written for this day. The participants sing along with the hymns.
