Selena Marie Gomez (July 22, 1992) is an American actress and musician. Gomez's debut role was Gianna in the series Barney & Friends (2002-2004). After that, Gomez played cameo roles in films such as Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over]] (2003) and Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire (2005). In 2006, Gomez starred as a guest star on Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Hannah Montana. Gomez then starred in Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place series. The series was a critical and commercial success, bringing Gomez a number of awards and nominations. Gomez then starred in Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream (2008) and Disney Channel Games (2008) and a number of other Disney series and movies. In 2009, she starred in Gomez Princess Protection Program and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, and Selena Gomez & the Scene released a studio album Kiss & Tell. The album was a commercial success and topped the Billboard charts.

After that, Gomez starred in Ramona and Beezus for the first time outside of Disney. In 2010, Selena Gomez & the Scene released their second album, A Year Without Rain. The album peaked at number five on the Billboard charts, with two singles on the Top 40 chart. In 2011, Gomez came to the fore again after it was confirmed that he was in a relationship with pop musician Justin Bieber. The couple was dubbed “Jelena” by the media. Gomez starred in Monte Carlo (2011) and The Muppets (2011) that year. In 2011, Selena Gomez & the Scene released her third album, When the Sun Goes Down. The album's single "Love You Like a Love Song" was a hit and was given a 4 × platinum title by RIAA. Following the album, Gomez announced that he was going on a music vacation to become an actress. She then starred in Hotel Transylvania (2012) and Spring Breakers (2013), in which Gomez portrayed a relatively older woman.

Gomez ended his music vacation at the end of 2012 and announced that he had begun work on a new, Stars Dance solo album. The single "Come & Get It", released in April 2013, was the first Selena Gomez song to reach the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was twice platinum-rated by the RIAA. The album's second single, "Slow Down," was released in June 2013. The entire album was released in July. In addition to music and film, Gomez is also a philanthropist: he participates in environmental charity events.
