Shukhrat Salihovich Abbasov was born on January 1931, 16 in the city of Kokand of the Fergana region. In 1949 he graduated from the Tashkent Medical College, in 1954 from the Tashkent State Institute of Theater Arts (now the Uzbek State Institute of Arts and Culture), faculty of directing. He was awarded the honorary title of "People's Artist of Uzbekistan", the State Prize, the Order "El-Yurt Hurmati" and a number of other orders and medals.
He began his career as a director at the Tashkent Regional Musical Drama Theater in Yangiyul. In 1958 he graduated from the Higher Directing Course at the Mosfilm studio. From 1982 to 1986 he worked at the Uzbekfilm studio as a director, then director, first deputy chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Uzbekistan, professor of the Uzbek State Institute of Arts and Culture.
