When did New Year's Eve begin?

SHARE WITH FRIENDS:

The long-awaited New Year's holiday is approaching. We prepare in advance for this day: we build our house, decorate the Christmas tree, prepare gifts for our loved ones. Because on December 31st, everyone will be busy with themselves. The housewives are busy cooking, and our aunts help with the necessary ingredients for the salad, and the sweet smell coming from the gas stove tickles the palate.

This is a question that arises during the preparation for the holiday. I wonder when people started celebrating New Year’s Eve?

Let’s take a look at the history to find out.

In ancient times, the Roman emperor Julius Caesar declared January 1 as the first day of the new year. From that day on, the Romans made new business plans, giving gifts and greetings to their relatives on the occasion of this day. Using the King of Laurel, he wrote greetings to his friends: "I wish you pleasant moments in the New Year." And sometimes humorous poems are over.

The Germans were the first to make a spruce tree. They brought a large spruce tree from the forest and hung apples, nuts and eggs on it. They said that the coming year will be blessed.

Then other nations began to make Christmas trees. The arch was set in the center of the house, where everyone could see it, and it was decorated with a variety of sweets, fruits, and toys.

Nowadays, it is impossible to imagine the New Year without a Christmas tree. If not, where will Santa put the presents on New Year's Eve?
