What products are allowed in the maternity ward?

SHARE WITH FRIENDS:

Once you get to the maternity ward, the menu they offer may not satisfy you. Usually the hospital kitchen is not distinguished by its special favors. So your relatives and loved ones can easily bring you something delicious. But be prepared that not all the foods you like will be consumed in your current state. Some maternity hospitals carry only permitted products. It is better to prepare in advance so as not to spend too much money and not to buy expensive fruits and delicacies that a pregnant woman or young mother can not eat.
Even if they check the products brought to you at the maternity hospital, you know for yourself which foods are safe and which ones to avoid in the first days after giving birth.

Thus, we list the products that can be brought for pregnant women lying in the antenatal ward.

Postpartum department of the maternity hospital
There is a separate list for happy mothers who sleep in the postpartum wards, which has even more stringent requirements than the above. This is because all the products a young mother consumes can adversely affect the composition of breast milk and the baby’s digestive system, which is not yet energized.

You should drink less fluids for a few days after giving birth. To be more precise - no more than 1,5-2 liters per day, otherwise breastfeeding mothers may not be able to absorb the incoming milk.
Peculiarities of postpartum feeding
The feeding of the mother after such a surgical procedure differs from the feeding of the nursing mother only in the first two to three days after natural childbirth. Because the mother’s diet at this time is related to the fact that she has undergone surgery. After surgery, it will be necessary to adjust the bowel to normal activity. Once this is done, the mother can switch to a mammalian diet.
Usually, your supervising doctor will refer you to his or her dietary recommendations based on the restoration of the bowel’s ability to empty independently (i.e., without cleansing enemas and laxatives).
On the first day in the intensive care unit you can drink still mineral water with the addition of 1-2 tablespoons of fruit juice.
On the second day, a soup made from lean chicken or veal is usually allowed, followed by mashed potatoes cooked in water.
On the third day after surgery, you can eat white chicken, boiled fish, porridge cooked in water (except rice porridge, because it can cause constipation), tea.
On the fourth day, almost all products allowed during breastfeeding can be consumed.
Even if you are undergoing a course of antibiotic therapy, do not consume products that can cause allergies in the baby through breast milk, because it is difficult to determine when allergens are eliminated from your body.
It is also recommended to eat products that improve intestinal peristalsis after surgery, such as plum peel, beets (beans can cause allergies in children).
