Who was the judge of Luqman?

SHARE WITH FRIENDS:

We often come across the name of Luqman Hakim and read his wisdom. However, little is known about him. In fact, there is no exact information. Neither the Qur'an nor the hadiths mention who he was. There is a surah in our Divine Book, Luqman, which contains some of the useful and exemplary advice that Luqman gave to the judge's son. The rest of his wisdom has survived to the present day through various narrations. Other verses of the Surah contain teachings such as the call to monotheism and faith, and the prohibition of disbelief and polytheism.
According to some sources, Luqman was born in the middle of the African continent, Abyssinia, and was short, black, with a flat nose, thick lips, and curly hair.
According to Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Luqman was the son of the ruler Bour ibn Nohur ibn Tarih. Tarih is another name for Azar, the father of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him).
Suhayli (may Allaah be pleased with him) said that Luqman was the son of Anqa ibn Soror of the Nubians. Jabir ibn 'Abdullah (may Allaah be pleased with him) also said that he was a Nubian and was short.
Wahba (may Allaah be pleased with him) states to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was the son of his nephew.
According to Muqatil, he was the son of Ayyub's aunt.
Ibn Kathir writes that Luqman was a judge of the Children of Israel during the reign of Judge David (peace be upon him). He is known for his eloquence, sharp thinking and fair decisions. He won the hearts of people with his right thinking, sincerity and aria. He has a great reputation for finding solutions to various conflicts. Therefore, he becomes one of the most important people in the society.
According to Ibn 'Abbas and Khalid ibn Rabi'i, Luqman was a master carpenter. As a young man, he often walked barefoot in the woods and mountains. Because of this, the legs suffer a lot, but they are as strong as text. It grows strong and resinous. His frequent encounters with wild animals strengthen his tenacity, courage and determination.
Allah had endowed him with a high intellect. Luqman always speaks the truth, understands with the heart, thinks, fulfills the fards, and attains the level of wisdom. Ibn Kathir narrates: “One day one of his old acquaintances came looking for Luqman and met him, surrounded by people, listening intently to his every word. The astonished man said, "Are you the same Luqman who took care of the sheep with me?" he asks. The judge replied, "Yes, I am." "How did you get to that level?" asks the man. "Because I spoke the truth and kept silent about useless things," replied Judge Lukman.
It is said that the tomb of Luqmani Hakim is in the village of Sarfand near the Palestinian city of Ramallah. According to Qataadah, the tomb is located between the Ramallah Mosque and the bazaar.
This information indicates that there is no exact information about the lineage of Luqmani Hakim, where he came from, and what his profession was. However, all those who narrate about him are of the same opinion about the great judge's truthfulness, honesty, justice, not speaking unnecessarily, his courage and bravery, and his wisdom. In fact, this is the most important thing. Who he was, how he lived and what he did is more exemplary for us than when and where he was born.
