THE VIRTUE OF ARAFA DAY

SHARE WITH FRIENDS:

Since the day of 'Arafah has special phases and characteristics, we will discuss its virtues and honors in detail. First of all, the Day of Arafa is the day when our religion is perfected and blessings are completed. The Jews said to 'Umar, "You are reciting a verse." If that verse had been revealed to us, we would have celebrated it. - I know when that verse was revealed, where it was revealed, and where the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was when it was revealed. It was the day of 'Arafah, and I swear by Allah that we were in Arafat (Sufyan said, "I do not know for sure whether that day was Friday or not.") (Reported by al-Bukhari). "Today I have perfected your religion for you, and have perfected My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion" (Surat al-Ma'ida, 3). The reason why it is said that the religion was perfected on the day of 'Arafah is that to this day, Muslims have not performed the Islamic Hajj. Now, with the introduction of the last pillars of Islam, the religion has become complete. In addition, Allah returned the Hajj to the principles of Ibrahim (as) and forbade the participation of polytheists and shirk in the Hajj from the beginning of the Hajj season of that year. Therefore, there have been no polytheists among the Muslims in Arafat since that year. The fullness of the blessing is due to Allah's forgiveness. For grace cannot be complete without forgiveness. "(O Muhammad,) that Allah may forgive you that which has passed away before you, and that which will come after you (that is, all your sins), and that He may complete His favor upon you." Second, Arafa is the day of Eid. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Day of 'Arafah, the Day of Sacrifice and the Day of Exodus are our festivals for the people of Islam.” (Reported by Abu Dawud). Thirdly, fasting on the day of 'Arafah is an expiation for two years of sin. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Fasting on the Day of 'Arafah is an expiation for the past year and the year to come. Fourth, Arafa is the day when sins are forgiven and souls are liberated from hell. It is narrated on the authority of 'A'isha that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah will not free many slaves from Hell until the day of' Arafah. He approached and then boasted to the angels that he had freed his servants from hell, and asked, "What do they want?" (Muslim narrations). Ibn 'Abd al-Barr said: This is a sign that the sins of those slaves have been forgiven. Because Allah Almighty is never proud of sinners. This can only happen after repentance and forgiveness. ” Vallohu aʼlam.

Actions to be taken on the day of Arafa
1. Fasting The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I hope that fasting on the Day of 'Arafah will atone for the past and the years to come.” (Reported by Muslim). Of course, this fast is not for those who are on Hajj, but for those who are not. Because pilgrims do not fast on the day of 'Arafah. One should be especially careful not to commit a sin on the day of 'Arafah. It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah ibn' Abbas that a slave who keeps his ears, eyes and tongue (on that day) will be forgiven. 2. The abundance of remembrance and supplication The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The best supplication is the supplication on the day of 'Arafah. The best words that I and the prophets before me uttered in prayer are "La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shariyka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadir" (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi). Ibn 'Abdul-Barr said: This hadith is evidence that the prayer of the Day of' Arafah is often acceptable and that the best remembrance is "la ilaha illallah." Al-Khattab said, "The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, 'These are the best words of praise that I usually give to Allaah before I pray.' This is because the one who prays first praises Allah and then asks for his needs. Therefore, sana is also called du'a. ”3. Takbir It is mustahab to say takbir on the ten days of Dhu'l-Hijjah. It is permissible to remember Allah everywhere and at all times these days. Scholars divide takbir into two types: First: Absolute takbir It can be said at any time of the day or night. This takbir begins with the beginning of the month of Dhu'l-Hijjah and lasts until the end of the days of pilgrimage. Second: Muqayyad Takbir This takbir is said after the prayers. It is said that it is better to say the takbir after each prayer. It starts from the dawn of Arafa and lasts until the end of the days of pilgrimage.
