Coronaviruses (CoV) is a family of viruses that can cause illnesses ranging from the common cold to serious illnesses such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). New coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain of the virus that has not previously been detected in humans.

 

Coronaviruses are zoonoses, ie pathogens that are transmitted from animals to humans. Careful research has shown that the source of SARS-CoV infection in humans is viverra, while MERS-CoV is a single-humped camel.

The most recently identified coronavirus in China is called COVID-19 and it is capable of causing a very serious disease.

What is COVID-19

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a recently discovered coronavirus. Before the outbreak in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, nothing was known about the new virus and disease.

Symptoms of COVID-19

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, fatigue, and dry cough. A number of patients may experience a variety of pain, nasal congestion, runny nose, pharyngitis, or diarrhea. As a rule, these symptoms develop gradually and go away easily. In some sick individuals, no symptoms or worsening of the condition are observed.
