Pritzker Prize

The Pritzker Architecture Prize is an analogue of the Nobel, which is awarded annually for achievements in the field of architecture. As a prize, the laureate will be awarded 100 US dollars, a certificate and a bronze medal.

Since there is no architecture section at the Nobel, the Pritzker family created their own architecture award in 1979. The founder of the Pritzker dynasty was lawyer Nikolai Yakovlevich Pritzker, who moved from Kiev to Chicago, and the award was founded by his grandson Jay Pritzker.

The award is given by a jury consisting of renowned architects, architecture critics and businessmen. The winner will be determined by a closed vote. The location of the award ceremony is also constantly changing. 2004 Zaha Hadid's Pritzker Prize awarding ceremony will take place in the building of the Hermitage Theater in St. Petersburg. Zaha Hadid was the first female architect to win this award.
