A new university of Uzbekistan was founded

On June 23, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation on the organization of the educational process at the New University of Uzbekistan (https://president.uz/uz/lists/view/4448).

This university is organized in the form of a state higher education institution. Its main tasks are to train promising personnel with high professional knowledge and skills on the basis of educational programs of prestigious foreign universities, to develop the intellectual abilities of students, to create a comprehensive environment for this.

To this end, the educational process at the new university will be organized in cooperation with the most prestigious universities in the world. For example, the University of Cambridge conducts entrance exams. Curricula and programs will be developed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Munich. They also help control the quality of education, replenish laboratories and libraries.

The university will have 5 faculties - engineering, natural sciences, management, agrotechnology and information technology. Classes are conducted in Uzbek and English. A credit-module system will be introduced, and training will be provided on the basis of a state grant and a payment-contract.

The educational building and campuses of this educational institution will also meet modern, international BREEAM certifications. The first academic year begins in September this year. Until the new building is built, classes will be held temporarily in the vacant buildings of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

One of the main tasks of the university is to conduct research, to attract students to scientific and innovative activities, based on the needs of the economy. To this end, cooperation will be established with the world's leading universities and research institutions, and a scientific journal will be established.

The head of state instructed to organize the process of admission and education at the university at the level of international standards, to effectively integrate science, education and industry.

- University students from the 1st year should be attached to the branches of economics and research centers in their field. It is important that ministries, reputable institutes and large companies join the university’s board of trustees. They need to express their needs, integrate into the educational process, and invest in future specialists in advance, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

President Islam Karimov approved the measures and signed a resolution on the establishment of the New University of Uzbekistan.
