The island of Tristan da Cunha has the population that lives farthest from the world's centers. The island is located in the South Atlantic region, 2816 km from South Africa, 3360 km from South America and 2161 km from Saint Helena. In 1961, the population of the island was evacuated due to volcanic activity, but in November 1963, 198 people returned. According to the 2016 census, the population of the island is 267 people.
