The name of Juwayriyya's father was Harith ibn Abu Zirar ibn Habib ibn Aiz ibn Malik ibn Mustalaq.
Juwayriya was born fifteen years before the Hijrah (six hundred and eighth year of the melody).
Juwayriya was the widow of Masofe ibn Safwa. Her husband, Masofe, was the worst enemy of Islam and the believers.
He was killed in the battle of Muraysi, and his wife was left a widow and taken prisoner by the Muslims. At that time, captive women were either sold as slaves or taken as servants. They could never be compared to free women. They were deprived of such a great blessing as liberty, that they could only earn money on the basis of a contract, or that their owners could free them by selling them for money.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) wanted to respect such captive women and equated them with free women. And thus they have practically affirmed that Islam is a noble, blessed and benevolent, just religion among human beings.
It is narrated that the father of Juwayriya came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said, "Those like my daughter should not be captives if you release her." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to him: "Ask Juwayriya herself, she will do whatever she wants.", they said. When her father was happy and asked Juwayriya for her opinion, she said that she had chosen Allah and His Messenger. Juwayriya converted to Islam in the fifth year of the Hijrah. After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) married Juwayriya, the daughter of the chief of the tribe of Bani Mustalaq, in the fifth year of the migration.
Indeed, the Companions practically followed these forms of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). For they did not forsake any of the deeds of their beloved prophets, but did all the deeds of that man and followed all his sunnahs one after the other.
After the marriage of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to Juwayriyah, the Muslims realized that this noble man was now the son-in-law of the tribe of Bani Mustalaq. In honor of this event, they released all the women captives from the Bani Mustalaq tribe in their hands.
When the tribe of Bani Mustalaq saw this nobility and forgiveness, they all believed in Allah and His Messenger and embraced Islam. Thus, Juwayriya became one of the women who brought the most blessings to her people.
Juwayriyah narrated a number of hadiths from the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). His hadiths are from authentic books.
It is narrated that Juwayriya was one of the most worshiped wives of the mothers of the believers, the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
Juwayriyyah died in Madinah at the age of sixty-five on the fifty-sixth day of the Hijrah. Marwan ibn Hakam recited his funeral prayer. They were buried in the Eternal Cemetery.
