Salohiddin Mamajonov (1931-2005)

Salohiddin Mamajonov (1931.15.12, Kurgantepa district - 2005) - literary scholar. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan (2001). Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan (1982), Doctor of Philology (1968), Professor (1972).

Salohiddin Mamajonov also made a significant contribution to the training of highly qualified scientific personnel in the field of philology. Under his leadership, more than 30 doctoral and master's theses were defended.

He graduated from the Fergana Pedagogical Institute, Faculty of Uzbek Language and Literature (1952). He worked at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan as a junior (1958-62), senior researcher (1962-68), head of the department (1968-2000).

Salohiddin Mamajonov's main scientific works are devoted to the problems of poetry, prose, drama, children's literature. Salohiddin Mamajonov took an active part in the creation of one- and multi-volume studies on the history of Uzbek literature in the Soviet era.

Salohiddin Mamajonov's research on the works of Gafur Ghulam ("Poet and modernity", 1963; "Ghafur Ghulam's prose", 1966; "Styles", 1972), "The world of the poet" about Hamid Olimjon (1972) and analysis of Sharof Rashidov's novels. He is the author of such works as "Lyrical world, epic scale" (1979).

In the 90s, Salohiddin Mamajonov published pamphlets and articles on the works of such writers as Behbudi, Fitrat, Hamza Hakimzoda, Cholpon, Elbek, Botu.
