Tashmuhammad Qori-Niyazi (1897-1970)

Qori-Niyaziy Tashmuhammad Niyazovich (1897.2.9, Khojand - 1970.18.3, Tashkent) - mathematician, teacher, public figure. Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan (1939). He founded the first Uzbek school of a new type in Fergana (1917), which in 1920 merged with the medical school in Kokand, was transformed into the Fergana Regional Educational College, and Qori-Niyazi was appointed its director.

Graduated from Qori-Niyazi Central Asian University (1929), rector of the same university (1931-33), People's Commissar of Education of Uzbekistan and currently chairman of the Presidium of the Science Committee under the Uzbek Academy of Sciences (1937-38), head of the mathematics department of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Mechanical Engineers. Since 1939). Deputy Chairman of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences (1939-43), and currently Chairman of the Presidium of the Uzbek branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1940-43). Member of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan (1947-62) and Chairman of the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1954-60), Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Science and Life" (1939-70).

Qori-Niyazi is the author of scientific works on the history of cultural life of the peoples of Uzbekistan. Author of the first textbooks in elementary and higher mathematics in Uzbek. Qori-Niyazi's memoir "School of Life" reflects the history of science, education and culture in the country.

Laureate of the State Prize (1952) and the Beruni State Prize of Uzbekistan (1970). He was awarded the Order of the Republic of Uzbekistan "For Great Services" (2002).

The Uzbek Research Institute of Pedagogical Sciences, one of the streets in Tashkent and School No. 206 are named after him.
