Myanmar, Republic of the Union of Myanmar is a country in Southeast Asia, located in the northwestern part of the Indochina Peninsula. The area is 678,5 thousand km². A total of 44 mln. person (2017). The capital, Yangon, is administratively divided into 7 national provinces and 7 administrative provinces.
Myanmar is a republic. The Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar of April 1994, 9 is in force. According to the constitution, the head of state is the president, and the legislature is the parliament; executive power is exercised by the government. Prior to the parliamentary elections, the highest body of state and legislative power is the State Council for Peace and Development.
