Alamkash (1846-1924)

Alamkash (pseudonym; real name Ubaydullo Islam oglu) (1846 - present-day Gallaorol district, Kyzylkurgan village - 1924) - poet, calligrapher, translator. He opened a school in his village and wrote a textbook on mathematics for the students of this school.

Alamkash's manuscript of more than 100 poems, his divan of more than 250 poems, and his work on mathematics have survived.

Alamkash freely translated Chor Kitab from Persian into Uzbek (1898). The work was reprinted 3 times in Tashkent in lithography (1910, 1913, 1914). The manuscript is kept at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan (inv. № 11306).
