The Mufti of Dorul Ulum Karachi, Hazrat Mawlana Abdurrauf Sukkarhvi, said:
“In Islam, there is no idea of celebrating the New Year. Whether it is the solar year or the lunar year.
Accordingly, it is not right for Muslims to congratulate Christians on the New Year because it is to support their erroneous beliefs. It is not permissible to celebrate the New Year in the usual way and to take part in gatherings based on innumerable evil deeds.
The verdict of blessing at the beginning of the new year
Of course, whether it is the lunar year or the solar year, at the beginning of which a person prays for the coming year and the coming life, although it is not fixed in the Shari'ah, but apparently there is no expense in it. This is because the prayers that are said at the beginning of each month, at the beginning of each night and at the beginning of each day are fixed by the hadith hadiths. They are mentioned below. There is also no cost to speaking on the basis of any religious advice in such a place.
A prayer at the beginning of the month
Ạllhm ạ̉hlh ʿlynạ bạlymn wạlạymạn w ạlslạmẗ wạlạslạm wạltwfyq lmạ tḥb w trḍy̱ ، rby w rbk ạllh
That is, “O Allah! Make this month a month of blessings for us, faith, health, Islam, and tawfiq for the deeds that you love and agree with. Allah is my Lord and your Lord.
A prayer at the beginning of the night
Ạllhm ạ̉sạ̉lk kẖyr hdẖh ạllylẗ w ạ̉ʿwdẖ bk mn sẖr hdẖh ạllylẗ w sẖrhạ bʿdhạ
That is, “O Allah! I ask You to have a good night. I seek refuge in you from the evil of this night and the night after. "
A prayer at the beginning of the day
Ạllhm ạ̹ny ạ̉sạ̉lk kẖyr hdẖạ ạlywm ftḥh w nṣrh w nwrh w brkth w hdạh wạ̉ʿwdẖ bk mn sẖr mạ fyh w sẖr mạ bʿdh
That is, “O Allah! I ask You for the goodness, the conquest (success in goals), the help, the light, the blessing, and the guidance of this day. I seek refuge in him from the evil that will befall him and the day after.
God is All-Knowing.
