Karimov Islam Abduganievich
State and political figure, the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Hero of Uzbekistan (1994). In 1960 he graduated from the Central Asian Polytechnic Institute, and in 1967 from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy. From 1960 he worked at the Tashselmash plant, first as an assistant master, then as a master, technologist, in 1961-1966 in the Tashkent Aviation Production Association named after VP Chkalov, first as an engineer, then as a leading design engineer. In 1966-1983 he worked at the State Planning Committee of Uzbekistan, from the chief specialty of the department of introduction of science and new technologies to the First Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Committee of the Republic. From 1983 Minister of Finance of the Uzbek SSR, from 1986 Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Uzbek SSR - Chairman of the State Planning Committee. From December 1986 he served as First Secretary of the Kashkadarya regional party committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan.
