August 19 is International Orangutan Day

International Orangutan Day is celebrated annually on August 19. It's a day dedicated to raising awareness about endangered orangutans and their habitat. The day aims to educate people about the threats facing orangutans and promote conservation efforts to protect them.

Orangutans live in the tropical forests of Borneo and Sumatra in Southeast Asia. They are known for their distinctive red hair and high intelligence. However, due to deforestation, habitat loss, illegal hunting, and the pet trade, orangutans have become critically endangered.
