August 10 - World Lion Day

World Lion Day is celebrated annually on August 10 to raise awareness of lions and encourage conservation efforts. It aims to highlight the importance of lions in the ecosystem and the threats they face, such as habitat loss, poaching and human-wildlife conflict.

Lions are known as the "king of the jungle" and are the symbol of strength and beauty. However, their numbers are rapidly decreasing over the years. It is estimated that the number of lions in Africa has decreased by 43% in the last two decades.

World Lion Day is a reminder of our responsibility to protect these majestic creatures and ensure their survival for future generations.
