Today, August 12, is the birthday of Academician Boriboy Akhmedov.
Akhmedov Boriboy Akhmedovich (1924-2002) is an orientalist, doctor of historical sciences, professor. Academician of the FA of the Republic of Uzbekistan (1995), Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan (1989).
B. Akhmedov graduated from the Oriental Faculty of the University of Central Asia (1953). Candidate in Leningrad in 1961 on the topic "Gosudarstvo kochevyx uzbekov pri Abu-l-khair-khane", in 1974 "Balkhskie khanstva v XVI - perv. half of the XNUMXth century. defended his doctoral dissertation on the subject.
From 1960 until his death, the scientist worked as a researcher, scientific secretary, and department head at the Institute of Oriental Studies. He was also the director of the State Museum of the History of the Timurids and the chairman of the Amir Temur Foundation. He is the author of more than ten works on the history of the Timurid period.
For his services to science and society, the scientist was awarded the "Scientist" (1989), Beruniy State Award (1989), "Dostlik" Order (1997) and "Great Services" Order (1999).
