Darvaza gas field, Turkmenistan 🇹🇲
This crater, located in the Karakum desert, has a diameter of 60 meters and a depth of 20 meters. The Darvaza natural gas field is the result of improper excavations carried out during the Soviet Union. Such a disaster almost killed many people. Therefore, the management decided to turn on the gas so that the gas field does not threaten the local population, but the fire, which should have been burning for more than 5 days, is still burning today.
