Abdullah ibn Mas'ud

Whoever sent down the Qur'an
wants to read as it is
Let Umm Abd learn from her son.
Muhammad Rasulullah
At the time, he was a minor. In the valleys of Makkah, one of the Quraysh nobles was tending sheep belonging to Uqba ibn Muayt. People called him "Umm Abd's son." His real name was Abdullah and he was the son of Mas'ud.

The news that one of his relatives was claiming to be a prophet was also heard by Abdullah, but he did not pay much attention to it because of his young childhood and his remoteness from the Meccan environment. He used to drive the sheep in the early hours of the morning and only come back after dark.

One day, while tending sheep, Abdullah saw two men approaching him from a distance. They approached. They were both very tired and their lips were dry from thirst. The passengers stopped in front of Abdullah, greeted him and said:
They said, "Son, we are very thirsty. Please milk one of your sheep."
The shepherd boy refused.
"No," he said, "I can't do that." These sheep are not mine, they are someone's deposit…
Surprisingly, those who demanded milk heard the refusal and looked at the child with consent, as if their requests had been granted. One:
"Show me a lamb that hasn't run away yet," he said.
Abdullah pointed to a lamb grazing next to him. The man grabbed the lamb, mentioned the name of Allah, and gently stroked its udder. The young man thought to himself in astonishment, "How long have the lambs that have not run away become milkers," but here a miracle happened! The lamb's udder swelled slowly. Then thick milk began to flow from it. The man standing on the sidelines picked up a hollow stone from the ground. They filled him with milk and he and his companion drank. Abdullah still couldn't believe his eyes when he picked up the milk.
When the three of them were drenched in pure milk, the miraculous man said, "Go back to the original." The udder shrank and returned to its original state. Then Abdullah realized that this man was not an ordinary person. Heartbeat:
"Teach me what you just said," he said.
That person:
"Of course I will," he replied.

The above incident was Abdullah ibn Mas'ud's first encounter with Islam. This is because the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was the owner of the divine miracle, and his companions were the faithful Sahaabah Siddiq, may Allaah be pleased with him. They were looking for a more secluded place in the canyons of Mecca.
Just as Abdullah awoke in love for his two companions, they fell in love with the shepherd boy. Seeing the trust and perseverance in him, they knew that they had met a noble young man.
Abdullah soon converted to Islam and asked the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to appoint him to a position. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) placed him in his proper service. From that day on, the former shepherd boy became a faithful servant of the master of all nations and ummahs. He never smiled at the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He had constant companions in the city, on the road, at home, and on the street. He would guard them when they slept, block them when they took a bath, put on their shoes when they wanted to go out, take off their shoes when they wanted to go inside, carry sticks and miswaks with them, and stand under their doors when they entered their rooms. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) allowed him to enter his presence whenever he wanted without any embarrassment. They also knew some of their secrets. That is why he was called "the owner of the secrets of the Messenger of Allah."

Abdullah ibn Mas'ud grew up in the house of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He was impressed by the man, he took an example, he followed in every quality. Many say of Abdullah, "He is the most manly of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)."
Ibn Mas'ud was educated in the madrasas of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). They grew up to be among the most powerful reciters among the Companions, commentators who knew the meaning of the verses, and scholars of the Shari'ah. We cite a story to prove our point.
'Umar ibn al-Khattab used to stand on Mount Arafat during the Hajj season. A man came to him and said:
"O Commander of the Faithful, I have come from Kufa." There is a man in our city who memorizes the Qur'an and writes it down. The caliph was extremely angry. In order to give the impression of a person who may believe in his infallible memory, omitting certain Qur'anic words in the process of spelling, or adding foreign words, which may cause controversy and doubt about the Book of Allah. :
"Who is he?" He asked.
'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud,' said the man.
When Hadrat 'Umar heard the answer, he was furious as if water had been sprinkled on the fire. Then:
"Yes, don't you think so?" By God, I do not know of anyone on earth who is more deserving of the spelling of the Qur'an than Ibn Mas'ud. Let me tell you a story, listen, ”he said and began his story:
“One night the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was sitting with Abu Bakr discussing the life of Muslims. I was also involved in their conversation. When the time came, we left the room. We see someone praying in a corner of the mosque. In the dark of night, we couldn’t immediately identify him. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) walked three or four steps and stopped. After listening to the man's recitation for a while, he turned to us and said:
He said, "Whoever wants to recite the Qur'an as it was revealed, let him recite it according to the recitation of his son Umm 'Abd."
Abdullah finished his prayer and opened his hand to pray. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
- Ask, Allah will give you what you ask for. Pray, accept your prayer.
I went to 'Abdullah tomorrow and told him that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had said' Amen 'to his prayer. In the morning, I went to tell the owner what had happened yesterday, but Abu Bakr was deft and had told the whole story.
By God, when I competed with Abu Bakr in any good way, he certainly won.

'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud was well versed in the science of the Qur'an and said without hiding it from anyone:
- By Allah, there is no god but Him, do not take any verse from the Holy Qur'an, I know where and for what reason it was revealed. If there was anyone on earth who knew the Book of Allah better than I did and had the opportunity to reach out to him, I would surely become a disciple of that person.
You will find in the following report that there is no exaggeration in Ibn Mas'ud's statement.
On one of his journeys, 'Umar ibn Khattab encountered an unknown caravan. Half the night, the cabbage was covered with darkness. At the command of the herald 'Umar, he asked the caravan, "Where are you coming from?" he asked. "Fajjul Atiqdam" ("Deep Valley" - Madinah), the answer came from him.
"Where are you going?"
- «Baytul atiqqa» («Old House» - Kaaba).
'Of course there is a scholar among them,' thought Hadrat 'Umar and ordered the herald to continue the question.
- What is the greatest verse in the Qur'an?
- Allahu la ilaha illa huval hayyul qoyum. La tahuzuhu sinatun and la navm (There is no god but Allah. He alone exists. He is the Living, the Everlasting. He neither sleeps nor sleeps). (Surat al-Baqara, 255)
- What is the wisest verse of the Qur'an?
- Innallaha yamuru bil'adli val ihsani wa iytoi zil qurba… (Of course, Allah commands justice, doing good deeds and doing good to one's relatives). (Surat an-Nahl, 90)
- What is the verse that summarizes the meanings of the Qur'an?
- Whoever does good like a particle (on the Day of Resurrection) will see it (on the Day of Resurrection). Whoever does evil like a particle, sees it too). (Surat al-Zalzala, verses 7-8)
- What is the verse that urges one to be in constant danger?
- Laysa biamaniyyikum and la amaniyyi ahlil kitab. Man ya'mal suay yujza bihi wa la yajid lahu min dunillahi waliyyav wa la nasiro (Neither your dreams nor the dreams of the People of the Book are true - whoever does evil will be punished and has no friend other than Allah. and will not find any helper). (Surat an-Nisa ', 123)
- What is the most promising verse in the Qur'an?
- Kul yaibadiyallaziyna asrofu ala anfusihim la taqnatu mir rohmatillah. Innalloha yagfiruz zunuba jamiy'a. Innahu huval ghafurur rahim (O Muhammad), say to My servants who have committed crimes against their own souls (by committing various sins): “Do not despair of the mercy of Allah! Verily, Allâh forgives all their sins. Surely He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. (Surat az-Zumar: 53)
My last question is: Is Abdullah ibn Mas'ud among you?
"Alhamdulillah, that's right."

Abdullah ibn Mas'ud was not only a qari, a scholar, a monk, and a hermit, but also a strong, courageous, and determined mujahideen when circumstances demanded. He was the first Muslim to follow the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and recite the Qur'aan in the presence of the polytheists.
The Companions used to gather and talk in Makkah in times of scarcity and weakness. "By God, the Quraysh have never heard of the Qur'an being recited aloud," he said. Who will make them hear the word of Allah? they said. Abdullah did not hesitate:
"Here I am," he said.
"No, it's not just you," said the Companions in unison. - Everything can be expected from the disbelievers, so we want someone who has relatives who can protect them from their evil.
- Rest assured of this oil. Allah will protect me from them, ”said Abdullah confidently and left his brothers and went to the mosque.
The Quraysh gathered around the Ka'bah. Abdullah Maqami came to Ibrahim and stopped and began to recite the verses of the Qur'an aloud: “Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim. (In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful). The Most Merciful (Allah) taught the Qur'an to the most merciful and compassionate man. taught the statement (speech) so that he could express his purpose in his heart). (Surat ar-Rahman: 1-4)
The polytheists wondered in front of him - what does this say of the son of Umm Abd? After a while, they understood. "Yes, this is what Muhammad is saying," they said, jumping up and down like a snake. Despite the face of Abdullah, who was reciting the Qur'an, they began to beat him. Eventually they got tired and stopped beating themselves. Ibn Mas'ud's brothers, who saw him covered in blood, lamented:
"We were afraid it would be like that," they said.
"By God, God's enemies are in front of me." It had never seemed so humiliating to this day. If you want, I will go there again tomorrow and recite the Qur'an, 'said Abdullah firmly.
"No, that's enough for you," said the Companions.

Abdullah ibn Mas'ud lived until the caliphate of 'Uthman. The caliph, who was visiting Abdullah, who was seriously ill, asked him how he was.
"What are you complaining about?"
"Because of my sins," said the patient.
- What do you like?
"Thanks be to my Lord."
"Shall I burn your accumulated salaries?" After all, you haven't had a yellow baby in years!
"I don't need him anymore!"
"At least your daughters will stay after you?"
- Are you afraid that my daughters will become poor? I commanded them to recite Surat al-Waqi'a every night. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, 'Whoever is accustomed to reciting Surat al-Waqi'a every night will never be in need.'

That night, 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud went to his wife with the recitation of the verses of the Qur'an in his heart and the remembrance of Allah.

Taken from Dr. Abdurahman Rafat al-Basha's book The Story of the Faithful Companions (Tashkent, Uzbekistan, 1997).
ABDULLAH ibn MAS'UD, full name Abdullah ibn Mas'ud ibn Rafiya ibn Habib al-Khuzali; Abu Abdurahman (590-653) was a Companion, one of the great faqihs and mujtahids, one of those who served Muhammad (pbuh). That is why he studied the Qur'an better than anyone else, heard many hadiths and memorized them.
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was the best in the science of tafsir. Abdullah ibn Mas'ud was the first among the Quraysh to spread the Qur'an in Makkah, and he recited Surat al-Rahman openly in Ibrahim al-Maqami.
He took part in the battles of Badr and Uhud and all others. After the death of the Prophet (saas), he was the head of the treasury of Kufa. He came to Medina during the reign of 'Uthman and died there at the age of 63.
From the Islamic encyclopedia

"THE FIRST PERSON TO READ THE QUR'AN"
Before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) entered the courtyard of Arqam, 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allaah be pleased with him) had already believed in him. As a result, he followed the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and became the sixth of the believers.
So he was one of the earliest converts to Islam.
Abdullah narrates his first meeting with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) as follows:
“When I was a teenager grazing the sheep of Uqba ibn Muayt, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and Abu Bakr Siddiq came to me and said:
"Do you have some milk to give us?" They asked. And I said to them,
I said, "I am a depositor, and I will not irrigate you." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
"Do you have a one-year-old sheep that hasn't run away yet?" They asked.
Men:
"Yes," I said. Then I brought that sheep. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) took the sheep and began to pray to his Lord, stroking its udder. Suddenly the sheep's udder grew larger. Then Abu Bakr brought a stone with a pit in the middle. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) milked the milk and drank it himself, then Abu Bakr and I drank the milk. Then he said to the sheep's udder:
As soon as they said, "Shrink," he immediately shrunk and returned to normal. Then I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said to him:
I said, "Teach me these words."
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
They said, "Surely you are an educated young man."
* * *
'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud prayed to his Lord, the righteous servant and faithful Messenger of Allah, and stroked the udder of a sheep that did not yet know what milk was, and was amazed to see that pure, appetizing, pure milk came out of that udder by the power of Allah!
Of course, Abdullah imagined that in those hours, he would see the simplest miracle of this great Prophet and that in the near future he would see great miracles from this beloved Messenger of Allah that would shake the world and fill it with light and guidance. did not bring either. Perhaps' Abdullah was a poor, weak young man at the time, and as a servant tending the sheep of Uqba ibn Mu'ayt, in the coming days, when Allah guided him and made him one of the believers, becoming one, he may not have imagined that he would overcome the arrogance and oppression of the Quraysh polytheists with his faith. Before Islam, he did not even dare to pass by the assembly where the polytheists of Quraysh were sitting. Even as he passed, he would pass by, keeping his head down and taking frequent steps. But after his conversion to Islam, he came to the tops of all the Quraysh nobles gathered around the Ka'bah and, with his pleasant and touching voice, raised his voice and began to recite the word of Allah.
Bsm ạllh ạlrḥmn ạlrḥym. Ạlrḥmn ʿlm ạlqrʾạn kẖlq ạlạnsn ʿlmh ạlbyạn ạlsẖms w ạlqmr bḥsbạn wạlnjm w ạlsẖjr ysjdạn.
Then, after a moment's silence, he resumed reading. The leaders of the Quraysh were stunned, unable to believe their eyes and ears. Could it be that this young man is resisting their arrogance and power? After all, this young man was one of their servants, a poor and miserable Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, who was grazing his sheep.
Let’s leave the word to the person who witnessed the event directly, let him or her tell us the course of events. This person is Zubayr. He tells the story:
“The first person to recite the Qur'an in Makkah was' Abdullah ibn Mas'ud. One day the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gathered:
“By Allah, the Quraysh have never heard the Qur'an openly. Is there anyone among us who can recite the Qur'an to them openly? ”
 Abdullah ibn Mas'ud:
He said, "I will recite it."
Companions:
"We're afraid you're going to get hurt," he said. That is why we want someone who has relatives who can protect us from the polytheists. ” Abdulloh:
He said, "Leave me alone. Allah will protect me."
At dawn the next day, Ibn Mas'ud went to a meeting of the nobles of Quraysh and began to recite while standing in front of Maqam Ibrahim.
Arrohman. Allamal continued to recite the Qur'an aloud again, then turned towards them.
The polytheists were astonished and said to one another:
“What does Ibn Umm Abd say? Yes, he is reciting the words of Muhammad. ” Then they got up and started beating Abdullah. He continued to recite as long as Allah willed. Then he returned to his brothers, his face and body badly damaged by the blows. The Companions said to him:
He said, "We were afraid that this would happen to you."
Abdullah:
He said, "For me, the enemies of Allah have not been as negligent as they are now. If you wish, I will go and recite the Qur'an to them tomorrow."
Companions:
"It simply came to our notice then. You have told the polytheists what they hate. '
Yes, of course… In the hours when 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud milked the udder of a sheep that had not yet given milk ahead of time and surprised him, some time later, he and the poor and needy brothers like him learned the miracles of the Messenger of Allah. he had never imagined that they would turn away from the light of the moon and the sun with these miracles, turning into one and raising the banner of Allah. Obviously, he didn't even know that day would come so soon. But those days arrived very quickly. The poor and destitute young man who worked as a laborer yesterday has become one of the miracles of Islam to this day.
It was hard to find Abdullah in the limelight. Not only in the crowd, but even when he was alone, he was not conspicuous. He was deprived of the share of wealth given to the rich, the share of physical strength given to the strong, and the share of respect and prestige given to the honorable. He was very poor, skinny and small, and had no prestige. But Islam gave him, instead of poverty and destitution, a great wealth which the treasurers of Kisra and Caesar did not possess.
Instead of the weakness and smallness of his body and body, he gifted the will to repel the oppressors, which would change the destiny of history. And instead of living a life of no respect and neglect, he bestowed eternity, knowledge, and honor, and as a result he became one of the greatest leaders in history.
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
His prophecy, "Surely you are an educated young man," came true. His great Lord taught him, and as a result he became the most faqih scholar of the Islamic Ummah, as well as the leader of all the reciters. He says of himself:
"I have memorized seventy suras from the tongues of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and no one can argue with me about this."
It is as if Abdullah, at the risk of his life, recited the Qur'an aloud and made it known to all the people of Makkah at a time when persecution and suffering against Muslims were intensifying. In the chapter on the recitation of the Qur'an, he seemed to have a great talent and a high understanding of its meanings. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded his Companions to follow Ibn Mas'ud.
He said, "Follow the path of Ibn Umm 'Abd." At the same time, he said to his Companions, imitating its recitation and instructing them to learn the recitation of the Qur'an from him:
“Whoever loves to hear the Qur’an as a new revelation, let him listen to the recitation of Ibn Umm Abd.”, “Whoever likes to recite the Qur’an as a new revelation, then Let him recite according to the recitation of Ibn Umm Abd.
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to listen to the Qur'aan in the language of Ibn Mas'ud. One day he called Ibn Mas'ud to him and said:
"O Abdullah, recite the Qur'an to me."
Abdullah:
He said, 'Shall I recite it to you, for it has been revealed to you, O Messenger of Allah?' The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
He said, "I love to hear the Qur'an from someone other than myself." So 'Abdullah began to recite Surat an-Nisa' to him. When he reached this verse,
41. What is the matter with them, when We bear witness from every nation, and We bear witness against them? 42. On that day, those who disbelieve and disobey the Messenger will wish to be destroyed from the earth, but they will not be able to conceal a word from God.
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said with tears in his eyes, pointing to Ibn Mas'ud with his hands.
"Enough is enough, O Ibn Mas'ud."
Speaking about the blessing that Allah had bestowed upon him, 'Abdullah said:
“By Allah, there is not a single verse in the Qur’an that I do not know what was revealed about. No one knows the Book of Allah better than I do. If I knew that someone who knew the Book of Allah better than I did, I would have gone to him. I'm not the oldest of you. "
The companions of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also testified that 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud had a high share of knowledge. About the Commander of the Faithful 'Umar:
He said, "Indeed, it is full of knowledge." Abu Musa Al-Ash'aray:
He said, "As long as there is a scholar like 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud among you, do not ask us about anything."
Abdullah's leadership in the Qur'an and jurisprudence was not only commendable, but his leadership in the field of piety and asceticism was also commendable. Hudhayfah said about him:
“I have never seen anyone more like the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) than Ibn Mas'ud in adhering to his purpose and path. Ho The memorizers of the Qur'aan, one of the Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), They knew very well that he was the closest of them to Allah. ”
Some of the Companions gathered in the presence of Ali ibn Abi Talib and said to him:
"O Commander of the Faithful, we have not seen anyone like Abdullah ibn Mas'ud who is more beautiful in morality, more gentle in education, more secretive in companionship, and stronger in piety."
Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
"I ask Allah, are these really the words that come from your heart?"
They are:
 They said, "Yes."
Ali (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
“O Allah, I bear witness to you… .O Allah, I say the same or more about him as they did… Indeed, he recited the Qur’an and knew that what he made lawful was lawful and what he made unlawful was unlawful. He is a jurist in the religion and a scholar in the Sunnah.
The Companions of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say about 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud:
"When we were blocked from the house of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), he would be allowed, and when we were not there, he would be there."
What they wanted was for 'Abdullah to be given an opportunity by the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that no one else had. Abdullah was the man who entered the houses of our Lord more than anyone else, sat with him more than anyone else, and was in his service. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was called a “mystic” among the Companions because he was more secretive with him than his other companions.
Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
"I did not see the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) with anyone except his family ibn Mas'ud."
The love of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) for 'Abdullah was great, and it was in him that he fell in love with piety, deep intellect, and nobility, and even said of him:
"If the believers wanted to rule someone without advice, I would have appointed Ibn Umm 'Abd as their leader."
Above we refer to the Companions of the Messenger of Allah:
We have already mentioned his testament, "Follow the path of Ibn Umm 'Abd." Because the love and trust of the Messenger of Allah (saw) towards him was so strong, Abdullah became one of his closest relatives and was given a share that was not given to anyone. This share was that our Lord told him:
He said, "I will allow you to come to me day and night, whenever you want."
The Companions said the same about 'Abdullah:
"The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would be allowed when we were blocked from his house, and he would be there when we were not there."
Of course, Ibn Mas'ud was entitled to this reward. Although such friendships often produced pride and arrogance, Ibn Mas'ud's humility, piety, and manners increased as a result of this friendship. Perhaps to imagine this behavior and manners in Abdullah, it is enough to pay attention to his condition after the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) when he was talking about him. Although the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said very little about it, when he moved his lips he said:
As soon as he said, "I heard it from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace," he would be filled with anguish and excitement, fearing that he would change the position of a letter in the words of the Prophet.
 Amr ibn Maymun said:
“I asked 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud about a date. He narrated only one hadith from the Messenger of Allah (saw). Then he said:
When he said, 'The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said so,' the anxiety overcame him and sweat began to flow from his forehead. Then he corrected himself and said, "Or they said something similar."
'Abdullah ibn Qays said:
'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud used to give us a lecture every Friday night. He would not say more than once in one night, "The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said." At that moment I looked at him, he was leaning on his cane. Suddenly, his staff began to tremble. ”
Masruq narrated from 'Abdullah:
Ibn Mas'ud narrated a hadith one day and said, "I heard it from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." Then he and his clothes trembled with fear. Then he said, "Or have I heard a word like that?"
The fact that his reverence for the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had reached such a high level was a sign of deep thought, first of all, before his piety. Because Abdullah ibn Mas'ud was more of a companion and companion to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) than any of his Companions, he was more respected than anyone else. Therefore, Abdullah's etiquette in the presence of our Lord was different from the others when he remembered his memories even after his death.
Abdullah left the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) neither in time nor in time. He attended all the ceremonies and expeditions attended by our Lord. He had shown great courage in the Battle of Badr.
The Commander of the Faithful, 'Umar, sent him to be the head of the property of the House of Kufa and said to the people of Kufa:
"Surely, I swear by Allah that I am sending him to you, even though I need him, so hold fast to him and learn from him."
The people of Kufa fell in love with him so much that no one before or after him had ever achieved such love. It was a miracle that all the people of Kufa fell in love with him. The reason was that they were a rebellious and impatient people, and could never bear to sit quietly and peacefully.
Their love was especially evident when 'Uthman was relieved of his post as governor of Kufa after he became caliph. They surrounded Abdullah and said to him:
"Don't go, stay with us, we will protect you from the evils of 'Uthman."
But Ibn Mas'ud replied to them with words that show that he was a noble man and a great pious man:
"I must obey him, or the strife will soon begin," he said. I don't want to be the first to open the door to this conspiracy. "
From the above, we can understand the respect of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud towards the Caliph 'Uthman. However, there was a heated argument between them later, as a result of which Abdullah was deprived of his salary from the Baitul property. Nevertheless, he did not say anything bad about 'Uthman. Perhaps when he saw the protests of the Ottoman period turning into a revolt, he was always among the defenders. When the news reached the ears of 'Abdullah that the conspirators were trying to kill' Uthman as a traitor, he said:
"If he is killed, he will not be able to appoint a caliph like him."
Some of Ibn Mas'ud's brothers:
They used to say, "We never heard Ibn Mas'ud insult 'Uthman."
Allah Almighty had endowed him with the same great wisdom as piety. He knew the essence of each issue and had the ability to interpret it accurately and wonderfully. Let us listen, for example, to how he described the life of the great Caliph 'Umar in short and clear words:
"His Islam would be a conquest, his migration a victory, his emirate a blessing."
Speaking about labor and its importance, Abdullah said:
"I do not like a person who sits idle and is not engaged in the affairs of this world or the Hereafter." Again from his wise words:
“The best of wealth is the wealth of the self. The best food is piety. The worst blindness is heart blindness. The greatness of mistakes is lies. The worst of professions is usury. The worst kind of food to eat is the property of an orphan. Whoever forgives, Allah will forgive him. Whoever forgives, Allah will forgive him.
This is Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, the owner of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It was only a part of the life of a great man who dedicated his life to Allah and His Messenger and the path of Islam and passed it on to the heroes.
This man's body was very small, and he was thin and short. His two legs were so thin that one day when the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) climbed a tree to pick some fruit, the Companions saw his legs and laughed. But the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to them:
He said, "Are you laughing at Ibn Mas'ud's legs? They are certainly calmer in the sight of Allah than Mount Uhud."
Yes, this poor and weak man was made the leader of the Imams by faith and trust, which led him to light and guidance.
'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud fought great battles with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his caliphs and won. Abdullah saw both great empires of the time, who were forced to open their doors in fear and submission for the banner of Islam. He saw a great position and a state of many cattle flowing under his feet. However, these things did not prevent him from his covenant with Allah and His Messenger. And it could not keep him away from the way of life, humility and humility, as well as obedience. He had only one dream in life, and he kept repeating it. Let's give him the floor:
“I went to Tabuk with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a blaze of fire burning on one side of the square where we were staying. I walked in that direction. There, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was preparing to bury Abdullah al-Bijadai al-Muzani, one of the Companions who had died, Abu Bakr and 'Umar. They dug a grave in which the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was standing, and Abu Bakr and 'Umar were standing on top of it. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) got up from the grave and said to them:
He said, "Give me your brother." They handed the corpse to our Lord. When the corpse was laid to rest, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
They prayed, "Lord, I agree with you, and you agree." Seeing this situation to myself;
I said, "I wish I was the owner of this grave."
That was his only dream in the world. As you can see, this dream is not about the greatness, wealth, career, and prestige that people aspire to. It was the dream of a man with a big heart, nobility and faith, who was guided by Allah, brought up by Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and guided by the Qur'aan.

His name is Abdullah, his surname is Abu Abdurrahman. His father was from the tribe of Mas'ud Bani Zuhra, and his mother's name was Umm Abd.
He recalls his acquaintance with the Messenger of Allah (saw) as follows: “I tended the sheep of Uqba ibn Abu Muayt. One day the Messenger of Allah (saas) passed by Abu Bakr (ra). The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) asked me for milk. I told him that I was a shepherd and that the sheep were entrusted to me. Upon hearing this, the Prophet (pbuh) said: “Is there a sheep that does not give milk? Show me. " The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) began to milk the sheep I had shown him. Then they handed the milk to Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr drank first, then the Messenger of Allah (saw) took the cup and drank it himself. Then they let the sheep go. ”(Ibn Sa'd, Tabaqat).
Abdullah is the sixth of those to convert to Islam. When he believed, our Prophet (saas) had not yet moved into Arqam's house. After becoming a Muslim, he began to memorize the Qur'an. No Companion could approach Abdullah in this regard. He finally memorized the Qur'an completely.
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud was the first Companion to recite aloud in the Ka'bah. Therefore, he was persecuted by the disbelievers of Quraysh and forced to emigrate to Abyssinia. He then migrated to Madinah and went to the house of Mu'adh ibn Jabal.
In his time, in the twentieth year of the Hijrah, 'Umar appointed' Abdullah as the judge of Kufa. Ibn Mas'ud also undertook to manage the House and educate the people. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a letter to the people of Kufa: “I am sending you Ammar ibn Yasir as Amir and Ibn Mas'ud as teacher. I entrusted the protection of the House to Ibn Mas'ud. Both are from the people of Badr. Listen to them and obey. I wanted to keep Ibn Mas'ud with me, but I preferred you to myself. "
Ibn Mas'ud was still eager to learn when he converted to Islam. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw his zeal and said, "You are a young man who will be a teacher." Ibn Mas'ud learned the Qur'an personally from our Prophet (saas). He was one of the few Companions who knew the Qur'an best and memorized it perfectly. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "Learn the Qur'an from four people: Ibn Mas'ud, Mu'adh ibn Jabal, Ubayy ibn Ka'b, and Salim, the slave of Abu Hudhayfah." (Reported by al-Bukhari).
Ibn Mas'ud Muksirun is one of the Companions who narrated the most hadiths. He was very careful about it. The number of hadiths narrated from him and from the authentic books is 848. Of these, 64 were narrated by Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim together (muttafaqun alayh), 21 by Imam Bukhari and 38 by Imam Muslim.
Ibn Mas'ud was also a scholar of jurisprudence. In particular, the basis of the Hanafi school is based on its narrations and ijtihads. As mentioned above, Ibn Mas'ud was the judge of Kufa. One of his leading disciples was Alqama ibn Qays. After that, Ibrahim Naha'i became famous in Kufa. He relied entirely on the ijtihad of Ibn Mas'ud. Ibn Mas'ud's treasure of knowledge passed from Ibrahim Naha'i to Hammad ibn Sulayman. Hammad is the teacher of Abu Hanifa Nu'man ibn Thabit.
Ibn Mas'ud is also known in Islamic history as a great commentator.
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud became ill when he reached the age of sixty. One day he saw the Messenger of Allah (saw) in a dream. Our Prophet (pbuh) was calling him to his side. He died in the thirty-second year of Hijrah. Zubayr and his son Abdullah washed him and wrapped him in a shroud. According to authentic narrations, his body was recited by 'Uthman ibn' Affan. Uthman ibn Maz'un laid him in the grave.
