The financial performance of the Google Play app store in 2019 was revealed for the first time as a result of antitrust proceedings with the Google IT giant.
The online store’s annual revenue was about $ 11,2 billion. This money is revenue from the sale of access to apps, as well as from internal transactions and in-app ads.
Several lawsuits have been filed against Google in the United States. The claims relate to the policy of the company that operates the Google Play platform. In particular, the developers of Android’s third-party apps have complained that Google is forced to use its own payment tools to sell subscriptions and content and charge up to 30% commission on sales.
