?? You’re charging your smartphone and laptop incorrectly, you know that? ??
Without battery power, our powerful laptop or smartphone will simply turn into a pile of scrap metal. The service life of the "power stone" will also be limited. Over time, they become depleted of energy, requiring more time to gain power.
To prolong the service life of the battery as much as possible, it is necessary to use the device properly and charge it properly. More precisely, the correct charging of the device and attention to the battery. We give more details about this below.
What do you know about lithium-ion batteries?
Batteries for modern smartphones, tablets, laptops and other gadgets are based on lithium-ion technology. As the name suggests, they use the ionic chemical element lithium.
When the battery is charged, the charged positive ionic lithium element passes from an electrode called the cathode to another electrode called the anode through the electrolyte solution in the battery cell. This, in turn, ensures that electrons are concentrated at the anode. The opposite happens when the battery is charging. The electrons are converted into the electrical energy required for the operation of the device to which the battery is connected.
In recent years, scientists have been trying to find a new chemical solution formula needed to ensure that lithium-ion batteries last longer, charge faster, and work more efficiently. However, the capabilities of lithium-ion batteries are currently limited.
The chemical reaction between the anode and cathode elements in the battery is the same for its compatibility. In particular, the thin layer of insulating atoms in it serves for the efficient operation of the electrodes. Most batteries last 2 or 3 years. Therefore, as the device becomes obsolete, its disposable power consumption time decreases. This means that the “power stone” needs to be replaced.
Strength and support
So what can be done to make a lithium-ion battery last longer? Maybe when you buy a new device (smartphone, laptop) it’s about charging it first and then using that power to the end. However, such a rule is not necessary for today’s batteries. Most importantly, your habits regarding how to support it when using a phone or laptop.
An important rule!
It is not advisable to charge the battery to the end and then discharge it to the end. The battery needs to be recharged frequently. The reason is that in this case the battery operates without voltage. When the battery runs out, it should be charged to 50%. However, do not always charge 100 percent.
If the battery is 100 percent charged, get used to turning off the gadget. This is not for safety: if lithium-ion batteries burn out, a special surface will prevent the situation from getting serious. However, there is another problem with charging to 100 percent - this will cause the battery to run out of power as quickly as it should. That is, the periodic life ends so quickly.
There is also a rule to extend its service life by charging frequently and draining the battery quickly. Use it once a month, lowering the battery capacity to 5 percent. Such a mechanism will serve the laptop or smartphone for its longevity. Samsung advises not to lower the battery capacity by more than 20%.
General recommendations
It should be noted that lithium-ion batteries do not like extreme temperatures. This is why you should not leave your phone or laptop in a heated car or in a very cold room. This condition can also cause the battery to fail quickly.
It is also important to watch out for smartphone overheating during charging. In this case, consult the service center experts.
However, experts recommend backing up the device with a special tool that belongs to the manufacturer itself. This is to protect the battery from devices that have different conduction currents during charging.
If you want to keep your laptop or smartphone for a long time, you need to charge the gadget to 50 percent capacity. Apple and other manufacturers recommend this. However, keep the device in a moderate temperature environment.
Each device's manual will also contain tips on how to support it. Therefore, read the manual carefully. If you follow these, the battery in your phone or laptop will work as needed.
