May 29 is Neighbors Day in Europe

Neighbors are everywhere — humans, animals, countries, planets. A new holiday — European Neighbors Day — was established in Paris in 2000 so that people could stay close to each other and not forget that they were neighbors to each other. This holiday is celebrated every year on the last Friday of May. The festival was founded by Frenchman Atanaz Perifan. In 1990, he and his friends founded the Paris d'Amis Association in 17 districts of Paris. The purpose of this association was to strengthen social ties, to prevent people from being isolated. The members of the association helped clothes, food and money for needy neighbors in difficult circumstances, as well as helped them find jobs.
