October 23 - the day when the Republic of Uzbekistan became a member of UNESCO.
Uzbekistan became a member of UNESCO as an independent country in 1993 and has been actively participating in its work in every field with this Organization. Seeing the work being done in the republic, in 1997, the member countries of the Organization elected the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Management Committee for 4 years. In this regard, from 2009 to 2013, Uzbekistan was re-elected as a member of the Management Committee of UNESCO.
