Do you know why the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) heard reproof and reproach from the seven heavens? About whom did Gabriel Amin bring a revelation from Allah to the heart of the noble Prophet?
He was' Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum, the muezzin of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

* * *

Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum was originally from Makkah, a relative of the Quraysh, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), the cousin of the Umm al-Mu'minin Khadijah bint Huwaylid. His father was Qays ibn Zayd, and his mother's name was Atika bint Abdullah. This is why the woman is called Umm Maktum (ummu - mother, maktum - hidden) - she gave birth to her child Abdullah blind.

One of the first rays of the light of guidance shining in Makkah illuminated the heart of Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum. He embraced Islam at the forefront. Ibn Umm Maktoum experienced all the hardships and difficulties that the Muslims of Makkah faced. Like his comrades, he faced this difficult test with patience, perseverance and perseverance. The various afflictions inflicted on the Ashâb by the disbelievers of Quraysh and the tortures they inflicted on them did not escape Abdullah, but he did not falter, his will did not bend, and his faith did not weaken in the slightest. Rather, he adhered to the religion of Allah, clung more firmly to the Book of his Lord, understood more deeply the Shari'ah sent by his Creator, and grew more in love with the Lord of all the worlds.
He had such a great love for the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that he was eager to memorize the Qur'aan, and he loved every minute of it, and he used it whenever the opportunity arose. Sometimes he even wanted to take the time that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) spent with others.
For some time, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) focused on the elders of the Quraysh and tried to persuade them to believe. One day, Utbah ibn Rabia, his brother Shaybah ibn Rabiah, Amr ibn Hisham, Umayya ibn Khalaf, nicknamed Abu Jahl, went to the congregation of Walid ibn Mughirah, the father of Khalid, the "sword of Allah," and talked to them, negotiated with them, and called them to Islam. . He hoped that his interlocutors would accept the invitation and put an end to the persecution he was inflicting on the Companions.
At that time, 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum came and said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me what Allah has revealed to you." The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) frowned, turned his face, and continued to speak to the nobles of Quraysh. Because what was in the middle was extremely important - if they converted to Islam, the religion of Allah would grow stronger and the call of His Messenger would be strengthened.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was relieved of the conversation, and as he rose from his seat, his eyes twinkled and something hit him hard on the head. Then the following verses were revealed: “When a blind man came to him, he frowned and turned away. How do you know that he will be purified or he will receive admonition, and then he will benefit from it? As for him who considers himself needless, you have turned to him. However, it will not harm you because it is not cleansed! But you turned away from him who feared you, and ran to you. Nay, it is a reminder. Whoever wills will be admonished. (Verses) with the hands of great, obedient mirzas (ie angels) to the noble, noble, high, pure pages (copied from Lawhul Mahfuz). (Surat al-Abasa, verses 1-16)
Gabriel Amin conveyed these sixteen verses to the hearts of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) because of 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum. The verses have been recited continuously from the time they were revealed until now, and will continue to be recited until Allah alone inherits the Earth and all that is in it.
From that day onwards, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) showed great respect to 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum, giving her a place in the net every time he came, inquiring about his condition and meeting his needs immediately.
This is not surprising, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not hear a severe curse from the seven heavens because of this man.

When the position of the polytheists of Quraysh against the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his Companions became very strong, Allaah gave permission to the Muslims to emigrate. Abdullah was one of the first to leave his homeland in order to preserve his religion. He and Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr were the first Companions to come to Madinah. As soon as the two emigrants reached Yathrib, they began to teach them the verses of the Qur'an and explain the religion of Allah.
When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) arrived in the land of migration, he appointed 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum and Bilal ibn Rabah as muezzins for the Muslims. They proclaimed the word of monotheism five times a day, called people to the best of deeds, and called them to salvation. When Bilal called the adhan, Abdullah would stay in the prayer room and sometimes change places. During Ramadan, they acted differently. The Muslims of Madinah used to get up in the morning with the adhan of one and stop eating at the adhan of the other. Bilal used to call people to prayer at night and wake them up, Ibn Umm Maktoum was waiting for Fajr, and the dawn was still warning the people.
The fact that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) made 'Abdullah a deputy in Madinah several times during his travels is a proof of how much attention he paid to him. In particular, during the conquest of Makkah, he was the eldest son of Umm Maktoum, the governor of Madinah.
After the Battle of Badr, Allah revealed verses that raised the prestige of the Mujahideen and made them superior to others, in order to increase their enthusiasm for jihad and to make them hate sitting at home. Ibn Umm Maktoum was deeply moved by this. Suffering from the loss of such a great status:
- O Messenger of Allah; If I could, I would definitely go to jihad, ”he said.
Then he turned to Allah with all his heart and begged him to recite a verse in honor of him and those like him who could not go to jihad because of his excuses: "O Allah, explain my excuse, explain my excuse."
Allahu ta'âlâ immediately answered the prayer of the faithful servant.
Zayd ibn Thabit, the secretary of the revelation of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), narrated:
'I was with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). At one point he was overwhelmed by the serenity that would occur when he received a revelation. The numbers that touched my thighs became so heavy that I had never felt such a weight in my life as a building. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to him after a while and said, “Write.” He recited the following verse: “Those who sit (in jihad) are equal to those who fight in the way of Allaah with their wealth and their lives. (Surat an-Nisa ', 95)
Ibn Umm Maktoum stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what will happen to those who are not able to fight?" he said. As soon as he finished speaking, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) calmed down again. Her legs felt as heavy as ever. When he came to them, he said, "Read what you have written, O Zayd." I read. He said, "Except those who are injured."
Thus the exception requested by Ibn Umm Maktum was revealed. Although Allah سبحانه وتعالى allowed the wounded not to take part in jihad, Abdullah did not want to stay with the “sitters” and decided to go on jihad in the way of Allah. For those who have a great heart are satisfied only with great deeds. From that day on, he tried not to miss any jihad. He set a personal mission for himself on the battlefield. “Put me in the middle of two rows. Hold the flag in my hand - I'll be your flag bearer. Because I'm an uncle, and even if I wanted to run away, I still couldn't. "

On the fourteenth day of the Hijrah, 'Umar ibn Khattab marched on the kingdom of Iran and decided to put an end to their property and kingdom and to turn the Persian land into Islamabad. He sent letters to the governors of the surrounding provinces, saying, "Send me without leaving anyone who can help the work of Allah in your country with his weapon or his horse or his courage or his opinion."
The Muslims responded to the call of the righteous caliph with "labbay." Islamic troops began to flow from the East and the West to Madinah. Among them was the blind Mujahid Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum.
Hadrat 'Umar appointed Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas as the commander of the naval army. He gave him final instructions and wished the soldiers a safe journey.
When the army reached Qadiyah, Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum put on his armor and straightened his battle clothes. He tried to raise the Muslim flag, to guard it like the apple of his eye, or to die on the lake.

The fierce and brutal battle lasted for three days, and the clash, which was short of a minister in the annals of war, ended on the third day with a clear victory for the Muslims. The most powerful state on earth has disintegrated. One of the strongest thrones in human history has been overthrown. The banner of monotheism was raised in the pagan land. This great victory was achieved at the expense of hundreds of martyrs. One of those happy martyrs was Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum. He was lying on the battlefield covered in blood, his hands holding the Muslim flag.

Taken from Dr. Abdurahman Rafat al-Basha's book The Story of the Faithful Companions (Tashkent, Uzbekistan, 1997).
Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum was a blind man. Like Bilal ibn Rabah, the Messenger of Allah had muezzins. Sixteen verses of the Qur'an have been revealed about him. Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum was originally from the Quraysh and was related to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. His father, Qays ibn Zayd, and his mother, Atika bint Abdullah, were respected among the Meccans. The reason why Atika's mother was called Umm Maktum was that her son Abdullah was born blind ("ummi" means mother, "maktum" means hidden). After the Prophet was sent as the last prophet to mankind, Islam Abdullah, among others, became interested in learning more about. After listening to the words of the Messenger of Allah, he realized that Islam was the right path and became a Muslim. Abdullah endured many oppressions of the Meccans. He loved the Messenger of Allah (saw) very much and spent most of his time memorizing the Qur'an. The Messenger of Allah (saw) was the first to call people to Islam from the elders of Quraysh. One day, Utbah ibn Rabia, Shaybah ibn Rabiah, Abu Jahl, Umayya ibn Khalaf and Walid ibn Mughirah joined them and told them about Islam and called them to become Muslims. At that time, 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum came and said: O Messenger of Allah! Teach me what your Lord has told you. ” The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, frowned, turned his face away, turned around and continued talking to the Quraysh nobles. But this was not because the Messenger of Allah disregarded Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum. There was another important reason here. If the prominent people of Makkah were Muslims, Islam would be strengthened and the call of our Prophet would be supported. But the Messenger of Allah (saw) did not have what he expected, and the nobles did not listen to the advice. As they stood up after the conversation, their eyes darkened, as if something heavy had pressed against their heads. It was from a revelation. Allah revealed the following verses because of Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum: “(Muhammad) he frowned and turned away. After all, a blind man had come to him. (O Muhammad!) You probably know where he is from (Using your own sins) he will be cleansed or he will receive a note, and then this note will benefit him ?! Ammo (Busy you) and to the rich, so are you (paying attention) you are in charge. However, his (from his own disbelief) The impurity was not harmful to you. Now, running in front of you (From Allah) but he who is afraid, you are distracted from him. No! (Don't do that!)Of course they are (Qur'anic verses) is the same note. So whoever wants, (him)iodine. (Those verses are with Allah) on sacred pages (ie) high in value, pure (on pages) secretary (angel)are in their hands. (They)they are honorable and obedient. ” (Abasa, verses 1-16).The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, realized that he had made a mistake. From that moment on, his respect for 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum increased. When they saw him, they asked him about his condition and encouraged him. Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum and Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr were the first Companions to come to Madinah. As soon as they arrived in Yathrib, they began to explain to people the true nature of our religion and to teach them the Qur'an. As a result, the people of Yathrib became Muslims one after another. When the Messenger of Allah (saw) arrived in Madinah, he appointed 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum as a muezzin for the Muslims, along with Bilal ibn Rabah. They called the congregation to prayer five times a day, calling for salvation. When Bilal said the adhan, 'Abdullah would stay in the prayer, sometimes changing places. In the month of Ramadan, they would behave differently. Bilal ibn Rabah used to call the adhan at night and wake people up in the morning, while 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum would wait for the dawn and inform the people after dawn. Everyone stopped at dawn and rushed to the mosque. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to his Companions during Ramadan, “Bilal says the adhan at night. Eat and drink until you hear the call to 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum. Ibn Umm Maktoum was blind, so the other Companions said to her, “It is morning, it is morning. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to take 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktoum to Madinah as his vicegerent. Even during the conquest of Mecca, this man became the governor of Medina. This was an expression of the Prophet's high respect for Abdullah.Ziyovuddinxon Maqsudov | Muslim.uz
