Abdullah ibn Umar

One of his great companions, Abdullah ibn 'Umar, was born in Makkah, in the house of' Umar, fourteen years before the Hijrah. Kunyasi - Abu Abdurrahman. When his father converted, he too became a Muslim at an early age. He was one of the Companions who narrated the most hadiths and learned from the Prophet (saas) because he spent a lot of time with the Prophet (saas) since childhood.
He avoided filthy and doubtful things, was far from the love of the world, and was very careful in everything. He never ate dinner without a partner, never ate without being hungry, ate very little. A friend who visited from Iraq gave him medicine and said, "It makes the food easier to digest." Ibn 'Umar said, "Then give this medicine to someone else." "Because I've never eaten until I'm full, and I won't need it again."
One day, 'Abdullah ibn' Umar was presented with a thousand dirhams and a shawl. But the next day one of his friends saw the man borrowing bait from the market. Ibn 'Umar asked his family, "Did they not leave money and clothes for our friend?" "Yes," they replied. “Yesterday they threw the scarf over their shoulders and took the money and went to the market. When they returned, they had nothing and distributed to the needy. "
Ibn 'Umar, who was twenty-five years old at the conquest of Makkah, looked very majestic on a galloping horse. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to him, 'Abdullah! Here, Abdullah! ” praised with pleasure. Our Prophet (saas) entered Makkah side by side on a camel and Ibn 'Umar on horseback.
Abdullah ibn 'Umar showed great heroism in Hunayn. He took part in the avant-garde army during the siege of Taif. Participated in Muta and Yarmuk. He took part in trips organized during the reign of Khulafai Rashid. Nevertheless, he became more and more famous in the world of science. 'A'isha said, "Ibn' Umar was very similar to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in his behavior and actions." He was a leader in tafsir, jurisprudence, hadith and other sciences. Very sensitive about fatwas, Imam Malik reported that he gave fatwas to people for sixty years after the Prophet (saas) during the Hajj season and at other times.
He was a generous, gentle man, and when he saw his slaves and companions praying, it was customary to set them free. It is said that some slaves use it: "Is it better to be deceived for good?" he replied. Imam Nofe, one of the greatest of the followers, was also one of the slaves freed by Ibn 'Umar.
When Ibn 'Umar heard a man speaking against the tyrant Hajjaj, he asked, "Could you say what Hajj said here?" When he heard the answer, "No," he said, "In the time of the Noble Messenger (pbuh), we considered this to be hypocrisy."
It is narrated in a series of conversations that he said: “O children of Adam, be in this world with your body and in the Hereafter with your heart. Wisdom is in ten things: nine in silence, one in low speech. A person’s identity is determined by the people they are friends with. He is not one of the people of knowledge who are jealous of those above him and oppress those below him. To this day, I have not broken or changed my pledge to the Messenger of Allah (saw). I was not with anyone who was a supporter of sedition and controversy. I did not disturb the peace of any Muslim. Love for the sake of Allah, make friends for the sake of Him, and let your enmity be the same. The love of Allah is attained in this way. We have seen times when no one thought of having more money, more wealth than his brother. Now, gold and silver are becoming very valuable. Fearing Allah and shedding a drop of tears is dearer to me than giving a thousand gold alms. One should do as much good as possible, always be sweet and open-faced. ”
Abdullah ibn 'Umar died in 692 AH and was buried in a place called Muhassab.

ABDULLAH ibn UMAR, his full name is Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab al-Adawi, his surname is Abu Abdurrahman (ca. 612-693) - one of the highest scholars and mujtahids of the Ashâb-i kirâm.
He is the one who laid the foundation stone of Hijaz jurisprudence and law. He was engaged in issuing fatwas for sixty years. After Abu Hurayra, he narrated the most hadiths from the Noble Prophet (saas) - 2630.
He migrated to Medina with his father 'Umar (ra) and was offered the caliphate after the death of' Uthman (ra), but refused the rank.
From the Islamic encyclopedia
The Ashâb-i kirâm are among the great ones, who are superior in the science of jurisprudence, tafsir, and hadith. His name is Abu Abdurrahman. The black of the Muslims, the Prophet. Sons of Umar ul Farooq. His mother is Zaynab bint Ma'uni Jumayhi. They were born in Makkah Mukarramah 14 years before the migration. He died here in 73 AH. The graves are in the Accountant.
They believed at an early age when their father became a believer. They migrated to Madinah and grew up with an Islamic upbringing. Because of their young age, they did not take part in the expeditions to Badr and Uhud. They first took part in the Trench War. It is narrated in Bayati Rizwan that they pledged allegiance before their father. Participated in the conquests of Egypt and North Africa. He took part in trips to Khorasan and Tabaristan. When their fathers asked them to appoint their sons to the caliphate when they were martyred, their father said, "One martyr from one house will suffice." Members of the Council on the condition of non-election. Hz. They did not accept it when they were nominated as candidates for the caliphate after the martyrdom of Uthman. Hz. They pledged allegiance to Ali r.anhu. They just didn’t interfere in the internal affairs. "Jihad does not happen among Muslims in an Islamic country," he said. Jihad is against the disbelievers. ” He had 15 children. 14 boys and 1 girl.

Abdullah ibn Umar r.anhumo was very close to Rasul Akram. He wanted to walk in the ways of the Blessed One and be moral with his morals. They did not want to deprive Huzur of their happiness. Wherever they went, they followed them. They witnessed many events and were able to hear the hadith sharif. They were always by the side of Rasul Akram in prayers, conversations and expeditions, and in the Farewell Hajj. Having the honor of serving Rasul Akram, they became masters in all sciences. Their abstinence from filth and doubt, their ignorance of the world, and their ignorance of the world were exemplary. They are one of the most prominent of the Ashâb-i kirâm in matters of the interpretation of the Qur'ân. He narrated many hadiths about halal and haram. A total of 2630 hadith narrators are covered in various sources.

Imam Malik ra said about Abdullah ibn Umar r.anhumo: Abdullah ibn 'Umar gave fatwas to the people for 60 years after the Holy Prophet during the Hajj season and at other times. He was very careful in giving fatwas. ” In the Tabiin, Mihran says: I have not seen anyone more pious than Ibn 'Umar.

Imam Nafeh, one of his freed slaves, said: 'Abdullah ibn' Umar did not give up his life without freeing 1000 people. Sometimes he would not eat meat for months. He only ate meat during Ramadan and when he was a guest. By giving too much attention to something, he would give it to someone who needed it.

A FINALLY DILIGENT AND MANY REPENTANT MAN
At the end of his long life, 'Abdullah ibn' Umar said about himself:
“I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). So, faithful to this pledge, I have not broken or changed it to this day. I did not pledge allegiance to the owners of the conspiracy. I did not wake any believer from his sleep (that is, I did not harm him).
In these words, the life of a righteous man who has lived for more than eighty years is briefly and clearly before our eyes.
Abdullah ibn 'Umar's relationship with Islam and the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) began when his father' Umar ibn al-Khattab took him to the battle of Badr when he was 13 years old. On that day, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab wanted his son to be among the warriors. But the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not allow him, given his young age.
From that day onwards, perhaps from the day his father 'Umar accompanied him on his migration,' Abdullah's relationship with Islam and the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) began. From that day until the end of his 85-year life, wherever we meet him, we find that he was diligent in all situations, remembering Allah a lot, never backing down from the path he had chosen, keeping his promise, and truly repenting. Abdullah ibn 'Umar has many attractive qualities and attributes. We see that in every aspect, for example, in knowledge, humility, piety, generosity, and prayer, he is an example to all. With all these beautiful qualities, Abdullah shaped his personality and life. He learned many good things from his father 'Umar ibn Khattab. Together with his father, he was educated by the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). His faith was as beautiful as his father's. Therefore, it was astonishing that he followed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and imitated him. He used to observe what the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did everywhere and apply it to his life as delicately as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did.
For example, Ibn 'Umar used to pray where the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) prayed. Wherever our Lord stood and prayed, he also stood and prayed. Ibn 'Umar used to sit and pray wherever he prayed. Ibn 'Umar got off his camel and prayed two rak'ahs on the same path as he got off his camel and prayed two rak'ahs.
In some places, when the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) turned his camels twice and drowned, Ibn 'Umar would turn his camels twice and sink them in the same place. Even when this custom was repeated every time, Ibn 'Umar's camel would come to the same place and involuntarily repeat the same action. Our mother 'A'isha, who saw' Abdullah ibn 'Umar imitating the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), was very moved by this.
He said, "There is no one who can match 'Abdullah ibn' Umar in imitating the deeds of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in every place."
Abdullah ibn 'Umar had blessed his long life with this path. Even the days came when the Muslims prayed in this way:
“O Allah, make me live as I am alive, so that I may live in obedience to Ibn 'Umar. There is no one more worthy to follow him today. ”
Despite imitating the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) so much, Ibn 'Umar was very careful about narrating a hadeeth from him. He would narrate that hadith only if he knew exactly each letter of the hadith he heard. Some contemporaries:
He used to say, "There is no one among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) like Ibn 'Umar who is careful not to add to or delete the hadeeths of the Messenger of Allaah."
Abdullah ibn 'Umar also refrained from issuing fatwas. A man came to 'Abdullah and asked him for a fatwa. Abdullah said to him:
He replied, "I do not know what you are asking for."
Before he could take a few steps back, he heard 'Abdullah ibn' Umar say to himself, with great joy, rubbing his palms together.
Ibn 'Umar was asked about something he did not know and said, "I do not know."
He was afraid to make ijtihad and make mistakes when giving the fatwa. Although Ibn 'Umar knew that if a mujtahid scholar made a mistake in ijtihad and gave a correct fatwa without making a mistake, he would have two rewards, his piety deprived him of his courage to give a fatwa.
In the same way, he avoided becoming a judge. Of course, the judiciary is one of the greatest and most prestigious duties of the state and society. And it is said that this training will be followed by great wealth and prestige. But for Ibn 'Umar, a man of great piety, there was no need for wealth or prestige.
One day, the Caliph 'Uthman ibn' Affan summoned him and offered him the position of judge. But Abdullah apologized. No matter what Osman demanded of him, he did not agree. Then 'Uthman ibn' Affan said to him:
"Do you want to rebel against me?" He said.
Abdullah ibn Umar:
"It's not like that, I just know that there are three types of judges," he said. A judge judges ignorantly without knowledge. So he will be in hell. Another judge judges according to his own whims. So he will be in Hell. And another peg, acting well, makes the right judgment. But for him there is neither reward nor sin. I will leave Allah between us and apologize to you. ”
Uthman ibn Affan accepted his apology after he had taken a vow from ra ibn 'Umar not to tell this news to anyone. This is because 'Uthman ibn' Affan ibn 'Umar was well aware of his authority among the people. Therefore, when the pious people heard Ibn' Umar's words about the judges, they all refused to be judges and could not even find a righteous caliph. .
Abdullah ibn 'Umar's rejection of the caliph's order was not a negative situation for him. Because at that time most of the Companions were still alive. Some were involved in judging and fatwas. Ibn 'Umar would not have refused if no righteous person had been found worthy of a judge, and as a result there was a danger that the judge would pass into the hands of unworthy people. So Ibn 'Umar decided to stay with his nafs. He purified his nafs with obedience and piety.
Abdullah always performed tahajjud prayers at night and often fasted during the day, shedding many tears and crying for forgiveness. The dream he had in his youth had a profound effect on his life on the above basis.
Let's listen to what he said about himself:
“I had a dream during the time of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). I had a piece of silk in my hand. It was as if I wanted a place in heaven, and that fabric was flying with me. At that moment, two men came and tried to take me to hell. An angel came to me and said, "Do not be afraid," and I rescued them. I told this dream to my sister Hafsa. He narrated it to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Abdullah is such a good guy. If he had prayed at night, he would have increased his goodness. ”
From that day onwards, 'Abdullah ibn' Umar did not leave his night prayers in a stable state or on a journey until he met his Lord. He prayed a lot and recited the Qur'an. Just like his father, Hadrat 'Umar, he wept for a long time when he heard the verses about hell.

Ubayd ibn 'Umayr said: I recited the following verses to' Abdullah ibn 'Umar:
 41. What is the matter with them, when We bear witness from every nation, and We bear witness against them? 42. On that day, those who disbelieve and disobey their Messenger will wish that the earth were destroyed, but they will not be able to conceal a word from Allah.
When Ibn 'Umar heard these verses, he wept so much that even his beard became very wet.

One day Ibn 'Umar sat with his brothers and recited the following verses:
1. Woe to those who strike (at the scales). 2-3. They are the ones who take from the people when they measure, and when they measure, they give less. 4-5-6. Do they not think that they will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection, the Day when all people will stand before the Lord of the worlds?
Her tears flowed like rain and fell to the ground from the excess of crying and excitement.
Abdullah ibn 'Umar's generosity and piety never left him. He donated a lot. He was not afraid that this generosity might make him one of the poor. This is because he was one of the ascetics. Ibn 'Umar was one of the Companions who was a businessman, whose business was always profitable. The salary assigned to him from the house of cattle was also very high. However, Ibn 'Umar did not take a single dirham of this salary and distributed it to the poor and needy.
One of the great qualities of 'Abdullah ibn' Umar is narrated by Ayyub ibn Wa'il al-Rasabi:
“One day, Ibn 'Umar was brought from the house of cattle with a salary of 4 dirhams. The next day I saw him borrowing straw for his horse from the market. He immediately went to his house and asked his family:
I asked, 'Didn't Ibn' Umar receive some velvet cloth for 4 dirhams last night? '
They told me:
 They said, "Yes, it was."
And I was surprised:
"Today I saw him borrowing fodder for his horse from the market!" I said.
They said:
"They didn't sleep until he distributed all the money," he said. Then they carried the velvet cloth over their shoulders and went out into the street. When they returned, there was no fabric. When we asked him about the cloth, he said that it was distributed to the poor and needy.
At that moment, in amazement, I clapped my hands together and ran towards the market. When you go to the market, go up a hill:
"O merchants, where are your eyes? Ibn 'Umar received 4 dirhams from the wealth of the house, and he distributed all the money to the poor and borrowed hay for his horse." I shouted.
Yes, his teacher was Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his father was' Umar ibn Khattab. So he deserved nothing more.
After all, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was a great leader in imitation, and even the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
"I wish every step I took followed in the footsteps of our Lord!" The man who said that could not have been otherwise. It was not permissible for him to be a slave to wealth, for he was the son of 'Umar, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Wealth was pouring into his door. But he would distribute this wealth to the needy. He often pushes his children to feast on rich people:
He said, "You call the sheep and leave the hungry."
The poor poor man, knowing that he was generous and sympathetic to them, always waited for him at his doorstep, or on his way. Such generosity was encouraged by his piety.

One day a friend from Khurasan brought him a very beautiful and expensive dress as a gift:
“I brought you this dress from Khorasan. I hope you will take off your rough clothes and put on the clothes I brought you and make me happy. ”
Ibn 'Umar said to him:
"Where's the pointer?" He said. Then he grabbed the dress and said:
 "Is this silk?" He asked.
That person:
 "No, it's cotton," he said.
Ibn 'Umar looked at the garment for a while and returned it. Then:
“I am afraid to wear this dress and become arrogant and boastful. Allah does not love the arrogant and boastful.

One day, an Iraqi friend gave him a bag full of it. Ibn 'Umar said:
 "What is this?" He asked.
That person:
"It's a very good medicine. I brought it from Iraq," he said.
Ibn Umar:
"What does it cure?" He asked.
That person:
 "It digests food," he said.
'Abdullah ibn' Umar smiled and said to him:
"Does he digest food? I haven't had enough for forty years," he said, returning the bag.
Mind you, he hasn’t eaten enough for forty years! The reason for not being full was not poverty, but piety and imitation of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and 'Umar. Ibn 'Umar said to him on the Day of Resurrection, "You have spent your pleasures in the worlds of this life, and you have used them."
he was extremely afraid of being called. He understood very well that he was a stranger and a guest in the world.
He said of himself:
"After the death of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), I did not put another on a brick, nor did I plant a tree."
Maymun ibn Mehran said:
“I entered the house of Ibn 'Umar. I compared the beds, buckets and furniture in his house to make sure it didn't cost more than a hundred dirhams. ”
This was not because of his poverty. Maybe he was a rich man.
This was not because of his greed. Maybe he was too generous.
It was only because of his indifference to the world, his lack of love for lust, and his steadfastness in the path he had chosen. When Ibn 'Umar was asked about the reasons for avoiding the fabrics of the world, he said:
He said, "My brothers and I are united in a great work, and I am afraid that I will not be able to reach them, contrary to what they have done."
Then he raised his hands to heaven and told others that he had not abandoned the blessings of this world out of weakness.
"O Allah, you know that if we were not afraid of you, we would have competed with the Quraysh to find the world."
Yes, of course, if he had not feared his Lord, he would have competed to find the world and won. But he didn’t need to compete for the world, because the world was flowing under his feet. He, on the other hand, belonged to the world of the needy and the poor.
Ibn 'Umar also resigned from the caliphate. He was repeatedly invited to become caliph. But he did not accept. Even when he was threatened with murder, he never agreed. Hasan ra says:
“After the killing of 'Uthman ibn' Affan, we said to 'Abdullah ibn' Umar:
"Surely you are the lord of the people and the son of the lord, let us pledge allegiance to you."
Ibn Umar:
He said, "If I could, not a single drop of a Muslim's blood would flow because of me."
They are:
They said, "Either you accept the caliphate or we will kill you in bed."
Abdullah insisted on his word. No matter how much they threatened, they could not convince him. Much time has passed since then. Conspiracies have increased. Ibn 'Umar, on the other hand, has always been the dream of many, that is, he wanted everyone to accept the position of caliph. They always came to him to pledge allegiance, and he always refused to be the caliph. But Ibn 'Umar's denial had logic and evidence.
The situation escalated after the assassination of Osman Ra. Ibn 'Umar could have fully accepted his responsibility and risk, even if he did not need the prestige of the caliphate. But one of the conditions of the caliphate was that all Muslims should accept it. Some agreed with their will, while others, intimidated by the sword, could not choose a caliph. At that time, it was impossible for everyone to agree and appoint a caliph. Despite Ibn 'Umar's many virtues and the fact that Muslims loved and respected him, not everyone could voluntarily pledge allegiance to Ibn' Umar. The reason is that Islamic lands have expanded. Conflicts among Muslims increased, as a result of which Muslims were divided into groups. Each group did not love the other, threatening each other with swords and war. Therefore, the situation was not ready for Abdullah ibn 'Umar to appoint a caliph at will, if he wished.
A man came to Ibn 'Umar and said:
"There is no one in the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) worse than you."
Abdullah:
“Why, I swear by Allah, I did not shed their blood, I did not divide their churches, I did not break their unity? "He said.
That person:
He said, "If you wanted to, no two people would disagree about you (that is, if you accepted the caliphate, everything would be fine)."
Ibn 'Umar said:
"I do not like it when the caliphate comes to me and says that one person agrees and the other disagrees."
Several years have passed since then. First the caliphate was taken by Muawiya, then by his son Yazid. After Yazid, his son Muawiya ibn Yazid refused to be caliph. It was at this time that Ibn 'Umar, in spite of being an old man, came to him and said:
"Come and give us your hand, we will pledge allegiance to you. Of course, you are the master of the Arabs and the son of the master."
Ibn 'Umar said to him:
"Don't the people of the East agree?"
Marvon said:
"We will beat them until they pledge allegiance."
Ibn 'Umar said:
"I swear by Allah that even though I have been a caliph for seventy years, I do not want the blood of a single Muslim to be shed because of me."
The main reason for the denial of the caliphate by Abdullah ibn Umar was that there was a danger of using force and weapons against the Muslims. Abdullah avoided the armed conspiracies between Muawiya and Ali's supporters and adopted the following slogan in those days:
Whoever says, "Hurry up for prayer," I will answer.
Whoever says, "Hurry to salvation," I will answer.
Whoever says, "Kill your Muslim brother and hurry to take his property," I will say, "No."
He was not a coward at all, but he was a very brave man. After Muawiya took over the caliphate, he often confronted him face to face and openly stated his shortcomings.
One day, the tyrant Hajjaj slandered the son of Zubayr ibn Awwam and said:
"Surely the son of Az-Zubayr changed the Book of Allah."
Ibn 'Umar jumped up and said:
He said, "You lied, you lied, you lied."
Hajjaj, who was not accustomed to being treated like this, lost his watermelon and was in a very difficult situation in front of many people. Then he said to Ibn 'Umar:
"I will punish you severely," he threatened.
Ibn 'Umar looked at Hajjaj and shook his hand.
"It's not surprising that you do what you're threatening, because you're a stupid sultan."
The people who heard this conversation were impressed by Ibn 'Umar's courage.
Despite his courage and bravery, he did not get involved in armed conspiracies until the end of his life. Abu Aliya Al Baro says:
“One day I was following Ibn 'Umar slowly. I overheard him say to himself without realizing it:
“He put his swords on his shoulders and killed some of them.
They said, "O Abdullah, give me your hand and we will give you the pledge of allegiance."
Let us remember at the beginning of his speech that he said about himself: "I did not wake any believer from his sleep (that is, I did not harm him)." Of course, he would have prevented wars and quarrels between Muslims if he could. But the events turned out to be more powerful than that. So he stepped aside. But even so, his heart was on Ali ra’s side. One day after these events, he said:
"One of the things I've regretted most about what I've lost in the world is that I didn't fight the group that went astray with Ali Ra."
The reason he did not fight with Imam Ali was not to save his life, even though the truth was on Ali’s side. Perhaps it was not a Muslim against a polytheist, but a Muslim fighting against a Muslim and shedding his blood. When Nofe asked him about it, he explained the reason very clearly. Nofe said:
“O Abdullah, you are the son of 'Umar and the Companion of the Messenger of Allah. What prevented you from helping Ali? ”
Ibn 'Umar said:
“I was prevented by Allah from forbidding the blood of a Muslim. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "Fight them until the persecution is over and the religion is for Allaah."
And we did it. We fought until the religion belonged entirely to Allah. But why are we fighting now? I fought a lot. At that time, idols occupied the Ka'bah from head to toe. Allah has purified the Arab lands from these idols. Are we going to fight against people who say "La ilaha illallah" today? "
During his long life, none of his wealth, career, prestige, or ambitions could lead him astray. For this reason, his contemporaries, after his death:
Ibn 'Umar died. He was like his father 'Umar in virtue.
Ibn 'Umar's high virtues were so dear to them that he was compared to' Umar.
“There were people like him in Umar's time. But in the time of Ibn 'Umar, there is no one like him. "
In the eighty-third year of the Hijrah, the sun was setting, and one of the ships of eternity began to sail with its own sails into the afterlife. This ship is carrying the body of a man who witnessed a revelation in his bosom. This great man was 'Abdullah ibn' Umar.
The apostle of Rijol Hadis.islam.uz
The name of 'Abdullah ibn' Umar is' Abdullah, his surname is Abu 'Abdur-Rahman, his father is' Umar ibn Khattab, and his mother is Zaynab bint Maz'un. Abdullah ibn 'Umar and his father converted to Islam in Makkah before they reached puberty. When they asked the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) for permission to take part in the battles of Badr and Uhud, they did not allow him because he was young. But they went to the Battle of the Trench. At that time, Ibn 'Umar was less than fifteen years old. They migrated to Medina with their fathers. When they were in their twenties, they took part in the conquest of Mecca.
From his youth, 'Abdullah ibn' Umar was pious and chaste, and he was known among the youth of Quraysh as one of those who had selfishness. He was also known among the people for his generosity and honesty. It is narrated that those who gave a hundred camels a day for the righteous in the way of Allah. They always ate with the orphans and the poor. If they had a campaign, they would only invite orphans and the poor. Of course, this generosity would be in the way of Allah, not for pride or praise. 'Abdullah ibn' Umar was one of the ascetics. They were not inclined to the world and did not try too hard at it, but hoped for clothes to cover their bodies and food to keep their bent waists straight.
Ibn 'Umar used to pray a lot at night, recite the Qur'an and remember Allah a lot. If they heard a warning, a frightening verse, tears would pour down their eyes like rain. Ibn 'Umar used to pray most of the night. In the morning, they would apologize and cry.
Tawus (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: I have not seen anyone more pious than Ibn 'Umar and more knowledgeable than Ibn' Abbas.
When the verse "Lan tanolul birra hatta tunfiquu mimma tuhibbun" ("You cannot achieve good unless you spend from what you love") was revealed, Ibn 'Umar freed his maid named Rumaysah in the way of Allah and said: You are the one I love, you are free, go away. ”
Nofe, one of the nobles, said, "If Ibn 'Umar had a hard time in worldly affairs, he would have been closer to his Lord."
Jabir ibn 'Abdullah said:
"We did not see anyone who was not inclined towards wealth except Abdullah ibn 'Umar."
People used to say, 'Abdullah ibn' Umar's asceticism was inherited from his father. Similarly, he acquired the teachings of religion as his father. In everything he followed the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his father. His heart was full of need. Their minds were high and their spirits pure. If the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) were mentioned in his presence, tears would flow from his love for him.
Ibn 'Umar had a characteristic of scholars. If people were ignorant of something, they would not show their enmity to them or interrupt the answer. If asked about something they didn’t know, they would immediately say they didn’t know.
Ibn 'Umar collected a total of 2630 hadiths, ranking second only to Abu Hurayra. Ibn 'Umar narrated the hadiths from such great Companions as Abu Bakr Siddiq,' Umar ibn Khattab, 'Uthman ibn' Affan, 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, and from our mothers' A'isha and Hafsa. It was narrated on the authority of Sa'id ibn Musayyib, Hasan al-Basri, Ibn Shihab Zuhri, Ibn Sirin, Nofe, Mujahid, Tawus and Ikrima.
Abdullah ibn 'Umar died in Mecca in 73 AH at the age of 84.

'Abdullah ibn' Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) received the blessings of Islam by the grace of Allaah. He loved the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) with all his being, and his heart was full of the love of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). This love called Ibn 'Umar to be like the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in all matters. Therefore, he always followed the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and listened to his words with sincerity and love. Even in the mosque, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to pray in the same way as he used to bow and prostrate.
Ibn 'Umar narrated many hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). His main criterion in narrating the hadith was to convey what he heard from the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He did not add a word to the words of the Prophet. It also didn’t diminish a word. Ibn 'Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) became one of the trustees of the Sahaabah in narrating hadeeth.
Zubayr (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: 'Abdullah ibn' Umar used to memorize what he heard from the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). If the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) could not attend a conversation, he would ask those who witnessed it. Ibn 'Umar visited the mosques where the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went and prayed two rak'ahs there. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stopped at Mount Arafat during the Hajj season.
When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) set out on a journey, Ibn 'Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) used to stop at the place of rest. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to stand under a shady tree and 'Abdullah ibn' Umar used to pour water on it and take care of it. As a result, the tree flourished for a long time, as it did before the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
'Abdullah ibn' Umar used to imitate the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in his supplications. If he prayed standing, he would stand up, and if he prayed, he would sit and pray.
'Abdullah always followed the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). 'A'isha was moved by this and said, "No one has followed the Prophet like' Abdullah ibn 'Umar."
Ibn 'Umar used to weep when he remembered the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and began to speak. He would close his eyes as he passed the houses of the whole house. In fact, he loved the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) all his life. He served faithfully throughout his life. One believer prayed, “O Allah! Extend his life so that I may follow 'Abdullah ibn' Umar. I do not know any other person in the time of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) who performed such deeds as 'Abdullah ibn' Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him).
