A city in southeastern Australia. The administrative center of the state of Victoria. On the coast of Port Phillip Bay. It is the second most populous city in the country after Sydney. The city was founded in the 2s of the 19th century and was named Melbourne after the Prime Minister of Great Britain. It was the capital of the Australian Union in 30-1901. Melbourne is an important industrial, commercial, financial and cultural center of the country. The largest port of the country (1927 million tons of cargo per year) is located here.
