The oldest city in Uzbekistan is more than 2750 years old and is Samarkand.
Samarkand is on a par with Rome and one of the oldest cities in the world. In 1925-1930, Samarkand was the capital of the Uzbek SSR. Pictured is Registan Square in the 1940s.
