Shavqiy (pseudonym; real name Mulla Shamsi mulla Husan oglu) (1805— present-day Turakurgan district - 1889) - poet, historian.

Devon contains poems in Uzbek and Persian, the main part of which is in Uzbek. Shavkiy's works consist of classical poetic genres: ghazal, muhammas, masnavi.

The main theme of the poet's works ("Parishons", "Bir guli rano", "Zebo", "Ishq sayli", etc.) is religious-mystical and lyrical. At the same time, there are muhammas and masnavis on social and historical issues in the devon. They depict the events of Tsarist Russia's conquest of Turkestan, in particular, the Kokand Khanate, in poetic lines. His poetic works, reflecting his impressions during the pilgrimage, were published in Tashkent lithographs in the early 20th century.

Historical epics such as "Jome'ul-havodis" ("Collection of events"), "Jangnomai Khudoyorkhan", "History of Khokand", "Pandnomai Khudoyorkhan" are mainly devoted to the events of the Kipchak uprising in the second half of the 19th century in the Kokand khanate. These epics are important in the study of socio-political events of the Khudoyorkhan period, the interaction of different classes. Shavkiy's works "Devoni Shavkiy", "Jome'ul-havodis" are kept at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
