The most sanctioned state.
Russia has become the world leader in the number of people under sanctions, following a wave of sanctions imposed by the West in recent days. As of February 22, 2778 new restrictions have been imposed on Russian legal entities and individuals, bringing the total number to 5530.
This figure is higher than in Iran (3616), Syria (about 2600) and North Korea (about 2100), which have been restricted mainly for their nuclear programs and support for terrorism. Switzerland (22), the EU (568), France (518) and the United States (512) have been the most active in imposing sanctions on Russia since February 243.
