The most reliable information about the prophets whose names are not mentioned in the Qur'an is narrated from Ibn Murdawayhi Abu Dharr al-Fifari. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, how many prophets are there?" I asked. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: One hundred and twenty-four thousand. "O Messenger of Allah, how many of them are the Messengers?" I said. They said, "Three hundred and thirteen, most of them."
