Halloween is celebrated in the United States on October 31st. The name Halloween comes from All Hallows Eve, or the day before All Saints Day, a traditional holy day for Christians. Halloween originated in Europe, but during the 19th century, immigrants brought it to North America and there

spread and developed in many ways. According to tradition, the spirits of the dead returned to life in the physical world to harm people and crops. People try to calm down annoying spirits on Halloween, and this habit has led to today’s Halloween traditions. For example, people wore the clothes of animals, ghosts, and devils to scare away evil spirits.

The traditional horror and modern comedy aspects of Halloween are seen today as Jack-o-lanterns, where people engrave horrible faces on pumpkins. Homeowners install lights in front of their homes to scare away evil spirits and counter scams. Other modern entertainment activities that reflect the traditional past of Halloween include watching scary movies and visiting thrilling homes.

The holiday in the United States has spread to other parts of the world as a fun and commercial event. Many people today celebrate Halloween with costumes and candies without knowing the history of the traditions. In addition, some organizations, including UNICEF, use the concept of deception in asking for money to raise money to help people in need around the world.
