Alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver
After alcohol enters the body, it is absorbed into the blood and metabolized in the liver as follows:
Alcohol ➡️ ethanol ➡️ acetaldehyde ➡️ acetic acid ➡️ water and CO2 (carbon dioxide) gas.
Acetaldehyde is a strong toxin that kills liver cells and causes cirrhosis.
